Opinions on Surfers/Members and promoting the fight against 2257?

Anyone have any? Is this something that surfers or members may be able to help out with through any means? Is anyone telling members why content is being pulled from member's areas? Anyone flying banners or educating the customers what's about to happen?

Your opinions?

It's probably a better idea not to tell surfers that soon all of their favorite models' id's will be available.

I thought of that also, but people, including us, will have to pull down some pretty popular sets and videos which will piss of members. Not because I can't get docs, I am simply not going to put someone else in that position. I know our partners very well, and most have offered anything we need to come up to speed, but I would not want to put anyone of a position of not being comfortable, so we just pulled content instead.

Members/Surfers may soon ask questions, and I am curious what the answers are going to be.

its not such a bad idea, but (ignoring the issue of privacy for the moment) what can surfers really do that can make a difference for us?

They can donate, they can spread the word on forums, they can do a few things. Without the trust of new/old models in the industry they won't get as much new and fresh porn (not tgp porn, members area porn).

why would you pull content if you can get the docs? I don't understand

This is an industry issue that does not really involve surfers.

Why does this need to be kept inside of the industry? I'd love to see some press from the mainstream explaining how dangerous for the talent it will be if this is all passed. There are plenty of free thinking American's who may not like porn, but they like priviacy rights.

Also, I'd love to have my members stay with my sites and not join similiar sites that are out of the US and do not care about the US law and will show the content.

I think it involves serforz. They're the foundation of the business.

There is one (non webmaster) forum that I am part where all the surfers are LIVID that their free porn is being taken away from them. I directed them to the FSC :)

I totally agree. A louder voice opposing these ridiculous regulations could not hurt the cause. Surfers and civil rights activists would not be happy if they knew the whole story.

I don't think members are stupid. They will notice when some of the content is gone. I had to pull some of my bought content because companies that I had bought them wouldn't give me the 2257 docs. I had to pull all of my British content. It is right that members should know some of what is going on with the 2257 regulations and that it is the reason that content is gone. That way they know why their porn is gone and that their government had a hand in it. Is everyone going to wait until some model or amateur gets hurt until this finally gets the spotlight?

It doesn't do any damn bit of good for you to put these banners into your sig... you can't join the FSC online.. you have to phone or fax or mail it in. Apparently it's been 'broken' for a reason... for quite some time... so much for the FSC having their shit together!

When 2257 gets named like "The Ch*ld P*rn Bill" or whatever else, who on the "outside" of the industry is going to say "let's cancel that bill"

It was indirectly labelled that for a reason.

And to quote Helen Lovejoy (from the Simpsons) "Won't somebody think of the children!"

I really don't think somebody looking for free porn will donate anything but spreading the idea that 2257 new regs are killing porn might go well.
