There are some decent restaurants, but rare and far between. Part of this comes from grossly inflated overheads (rent blah) and little money left to buy the food :-) Now I remember why I escaped this version of civilisation :-) |
Vancouver is 87..I thought we were more expensive than quite a few of those mentioned

Yea true vendot - and some excellent chiefs, but the general standard is really very low when ya compare it with other locations/countries. Some of the best restaurants in the world (least according to the guides) are located in obscure locations, - but very nice places, and the cost is very moderate in comparison with London (hell, much the same with any city!). I always wondered what a US person who ever bought a basic Big Mac in London thought of this pathetic culinery experience for the price they charge! :1orglaugh |
I see my original hometown of Pittsburgh made 111. I agree with that.
I'm moving to tokyo soon woohoo!!
Oslo, Norway 10! Fucked up!
my favorite city is
curitiba in the state of parana in brasil nothing like iit anywhere else. http://www.curitiba-brazil.com/ |
surprised to see Moscow up there at #4...
Winnipeg would be way down near the bottom of that list. It's cheaper to live here than the other Canadian cities on that list. And I for one like the low cost of living. :D

I want to go to Mezzo :( |
Top two, are both located in Japan.
New York only #13. Hmm, I don't think I will complain about this low ranking for my city.
Chosing the least expensive place doesn't really mean less opportunity to enjoy.. ;)
Japan is not so expensive if you like to live like a Japanese person. I stay at a Japanese style in in Tokyo that is 5 min walk to a major train station. I can be anywhere in Central Tokyo in less that 45 minutes. The "ryookan" is only $43 a night. Hell, I stay two or three weeks at a time. Extremely clean and friendly folks.
The subways, trains, and buses are cheap, efficient, timely, and the directions are easy to understand. If you eat pork, chicken, ramen, curry, udon, rice and pickles, the cost of food is reasonable. What cost a lot are steaks, western style hotel rooms, booze, and private transportation. Just what western tourists use. No wonder the list is not very accurate for a person wanting to experience immersion in the local culture instead of a postcard viewing of museums in a tour group. |
damn, not many US cities on there
atlanta 82 :thumbsup
no wonder the top 2 is from Japan...i think it's the cleanest place as well.
Dublin is #13...yeah it's expensive there cause i was there in December but the food is great. |

Now I know why I need so much money ... the city I am living in is in the Top 20 :pimp
