Are you angry yet? (Rant, aimless and meandering)

What, TALA is going to bitch about something? Miss Good Morning GFY ray of fucking sunshine??

Oh yes. And this is along the same lines of the 3k post by 2HousePlague, so if you read his, you can bloody well read mine. (Boy, I need a fuckin dose of either hot, no-holds-barred sex or a goddamn hit of lithium.)

This whole 2257 bullshit is something that we've all seen coming. Somewhere along the line, most of us went, "It'll never happen, and if it doesn, it won't hurt me."

Oopsie.

It affects us all. No matter who you are, what you do, it's affecting us. And what it all boils down to is this: We shoulda self-regulated so that the US fucktards of congress, (remember, "con" is the opposite of "pro"), didn't have to do it for us.

Now before you get your panties in a twist, there are some folks who WERE correctly self-regulating. But since there were enough who weren't, we're here. That and the fact that right now the "moral majority" speaketh. We're a country being run by fundies, ultra-conservatives, and whoohoo, how about those fem-nazis who think that a woman who cooks dinner is being opressed.

:helpme

But some of us, like j-baby, see the beauty and artistic value in some of what we do. (No posting gratuitious pics of shit you woldn't touch with a ten foot pole, please. I said, SOME)

I love this industry. We're human beings, and honestly, sexuality comes naturally to us all. That's how we procreate. It's also a helluva stress reliever, and yes, it DOES cure some headaches. (Sorry to give away the secret girls) It's beautiful, it's natural and dammit, it's fun.

In the worlds of George Carlin: "Selling is legal, fucking is legal, why isn't selling fucking legal? There are worse things I can think of than giving someone an orgasm."

I don't understand why the fundies and over half the US population seem to think sex is bad, wrong or evil. Jesus Christ.

Maybe they just need to get laid.

It's time to get angry, people. It's high time that we as an industry got together and took a big dump on Congress and our lack of freedoms. I'm not sure how we could do this, but hey, it's for the children, right? The children being protected (*cough*) are going to grow up and wonder WTF?? Teach your children well.

And now I'm off to go find better drugs.

Something funny along those lines I heard on Stern today...

It's ok to fart on the air but if the farts are "wet" farts, that's not ok. :helpme

Yup. Stern can no longer have people fart on other people and in people's faces anymore either.

Tala 06-21-2005 01:47 PM

Well shit on 'em.

Tala I was actually thinking about how the gaming industry has become a solid and stable industry in our country. You would never see a Senator bitching about putting Vegas out of business. Gaming is so mainstream now people bring their kids to Vegas.

That's where we need to get to.

But even "Sin City" has it's flaws. Lapdancing is illegal here. Vegas wants to be a "family destination".

It amazes me how hypocritical people are. I don't believe over 50% of our country is against porn. I'd guess closer to 20%, at most. People are just to afraid to admit to it so instead they hide in their cubicles or log on in the middle of the night.

nice rants Tala!!

Obviously industry people in the US just don't care enough to have prevented it or to do damage control after it happened. We knew things like this were on the horizon, yet we sat back and said the sky ISN'T falling. Really, if we weren't fighting against this all along, we can't complain. They made the decisions for us. If we really cared about protecting our rights and income we wouldn't have let it get to this point.

Don't get me wrong, I think 2257 is beyond ridiculous, unreasonable, and invades the privacy of all involved; however I don't own any sites and I have never used nudity on my pages and I have been in the industry for over 5 years. I have always converted and have had just about the same ratio since I started.

Americans complain about Bush, but didn't care enough to get out and vote. People in our industry complain about 2257, but didn't care enough to do more than complain after it's already in effect.

After paying my 30% taxes for the past 35 years - the Gov't I have supported and loved forever is making me feel like a dirty whore. :321GFY

Oh WAIT! Whoring isn't a legal business! Guess I have to find another choice of words to fit this feeling.

If they really wanted to protect our children, they'd put a few dozen geeks and a case of RedBull in a dark basement room with a T-1 line and tell them to Find The Real Stinkin' Perverts. In the almost 2 years I've been surfing the porn highway, I have NEVER seen one single piece of CP.

If I had, I'd have reported it - as would any caring human!

Sad but true.
