A lawsuit filed by the family of murdered Notorious B.I.G. against the city of LA

gets underway today.
Some theorize the rapper's murder was part of an East Coast West Coast rap rivalry and that the president of death row records Marion "Suge" Knight ordered B.I.G.'s killing from prison.

Rogue Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) cop David Mack worked for knight at the time. Family members of Notorious B.I.G. claim Mack orchestrated the killing, and say the LAPD covered it up.

Family attorney Perry R. Sanders at a news conference yesterday said, "This is a lawsuit whereby the estate is exercising its constitutionally-protected right to bring civil rights claims against the LAPD who put the policies in place, which caused and allowed people working for the LAPD to also work for gangsters and criminals."

Attorney Perry Sanders says his case may be hurt by witness intimidation. A former FBI informant, who was expected to be a key witness, now claims to have severe memory lapses.

But according to Sanders, he will show jurors a videotaped disposition with an FBI informant, who presumable is a different man.

The lawyer claimed the unnamed man learned details of the case while serving time -- along with Knight -- at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo. Knight was serving a nine-year sentence for a parole violation.

The family's attorneys also gave members of the media copies of a search Warrant, which had been under seal, for the Death Row Records offices and other locations associated with Knight.

In an affidavit supporting the warrant, LAPD Detective Buford Watts wrote that the informant who was behind bars with Knight claimed Knight told him he and men identified as "Big Sykes" and "Reg" set up Notorious B.I.G.'s murder, in part as retribution for the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.

The unnamed informant said Knight told him he wanted to "let them know Damoo (Swahili for Blood) got him on the West Side," according to Watts.

Watts speculated in the affidavit that "Reg" was Reginald Wright Jr., who provided security for Death Row Records.

A representative for the City Attorney's Office declined yesterday to comment on the case, or on Sander's assertions about the unnamed informant.

2pac and biggy were not killed because of some conspiracy, these guys banged for their entire lives, bet you $50 they got shot up because of some past coke deal that went wrong.

they could never leave that side of the game, they loved it to much, and that is what ultimatley cost them their lives imo.

Tupac's doing alright, he's due out for another album I'm sure. He puts out more albums than L. Ron Hubbard puts out books (for dead guys)

I saw a documentary about 3+ years ago that honestly just blew my mind.

It was about gang bangers inside of the LAPD...they were involved in a bank robbery and finally were able to crack one of the tellers who was an insider on the job. These guys are now upper level members in prison.

Anyway one of the cops that was arrested had a car in his garage that matched the description of the one pulling away from Biggie that night and in front of it..seriously there was a shrine to 2pac.

This was the most bizarre documentary I had ever seen it was on either Discovery or TLC.

And I believe one of the guys named in the suit is one of the cops discussed..because they were all tied up in this whole record mafia bullshit...working security etc.
