right on. I would have done the same for my husband had his death been prolonged. I KNEW he did not want to be kept alive in such a situation and I think most couples who have been together any serious amount of time have talked about it and know their own views a great deal better than their parents.

Not exactly the same but the same idea - I KNEW my husband did not want to have a religious funeral but the funeral home kept pushing me to have one. They said that the only speakers they had were religious (or one religion or another). Him and I had had this conversation many times and I knew he wouldn't want that. So, I gave the eulogy myself which the funeral home said broke protocol, etc. My promise to Marc was not to let a priest talk about him. I kept mine and in those moments it is important that you know that or you will never sleep at night.

Obviously all sides where doing what they thought was right, but I personally think the parents where doing it for them not her :(

Michael Schiavo could have kept the whole situation from blowing up so huge by allowing doctors other than his hand picked to examine her and to have not barred all examinations/photography for the last 2-3 years of her life. If the "following the balloon" clip was just a coincidence it could have been easily proven with subsequent videoing. As far as him being a dick, he clinches that title for shutting them out of the funeral services/internment.

The doctors had come to their conclusions, no one disagreed except the whacked out people Terry's parents chose. The 'following the balloon clip' was just that.
