2257 and Yahoo Groups?

Apologies if this has been covered already. Does content on yahoo groups need to be compliant? I'm sure I read somwhere that it doesn't apply, but I can't find the thread. It would be a shame to close down some of my oldest groups.

Yahoo has shut down Yahoo Groups before just for being adult. That's what I'm worried about. Even if it is compliant, what if they decide to erase all adult groups? :Oh crap

Anyone have a script to capture all the group email addresses, just in case? :helpme

With the other issues that have made the news about Yahoo and the kiddie porn chat. I'm betting we will see a end to Yahoo adult groups.

Yes, it's a bitch when they close groups, seemingly arbitrarily. I'm sure they wont close Groups down altogether though. They've been around for a long time (since before Yahoo bought them) and generate nice revenue for Yahoo.

RE: email capturing. The legit way would be to start a newsletter and encourage your members to join. :)

They can fight the government off should they get charged. It's worth it to them to challenge this. Their defiance is a good thing for everyone.

i think yahoo will take some actions that will leave you with no more questions about this

the groups will remain, but no uploading pics or movies will be the case i bet.

Any other group owners like to comment? I basically have a decision to make : leave or pull much of the content.

I have about 100 groups...and I am not worried a bit

I changed anything on my groups that sold anything to softcore, and removed all urls from pics that people have posted...basically I made sure that anything on my group (the front page) that was selling anything was non-explicit

I also changed my group ownership to a different profile that is not linked to me anymore

i really don't think they will go after yahoo groups, but I also think that Yahoo will be making changes, I just have no clue what they will be

oh yeah, post your groups to www.yahooxgroups.com

Thanks for the advice! I think - if anything - yahoo might require softcore images. I'll submit my groups to you today. Cheers :thumbsup
