Partition info on Harddisk corrupt - what to do?

WinXP, Maxtor 250 GB Harddisk, one partition 180 GB shows message - "harddisk not formatted". When I use data recovery program I can see all data including folders and subfolders. I can copy and paste data to another harddisk using this program.

Is there any way I can correct the partition info so the harddisk starts working ok with all the data without having to buy one more harddisk to copy all the data to and then reformatting?

If your data is important, then spend the $150 on a second HD. Until you recover your data you should consider the existing drive READ ONLY!

But there isnt a way to rebuild the partition info?

This is definately one of the best options. I've had multiple HD's in my cpu's for a good decade, as well as ext HD's as well.

Better to be safe then sorry.

:Oh crap
