Please spam me with 2257 software applications

I'm looking for software that can be installed on your computer that has printing capabilities to be able to print out your records. I've seen www.2257ware.com is there any others?

newbreed 06-20-2005 09:32 AM

Not sure if you have seen the latest release Kiwigirl, but if you shoot me an e-mail I will send you the link to it.

btw...for those who've seen my posts in the past about this...i don't even know the guy who wrote the 2257 made easy software, but i wanted it to do things that it wasn't built to do...he not only worked with me in email and sent me a module for it, but actually did a revision of the software that's on sale, just in case anyone else wanted it to do the same thing.....i'm very pleased :-)

Key note folks, be careful with dealing with a solution sitting on another server, hosted or in house. This was brought up at the FSC seminar and is well documented by the well known industry lawyers fighting the new regs. Just a heads up you may want to have anything that has to be on a network or the interent reviewed by your own attorney before dumping large amounts of data into it.

MikeSmoke 06-21-2005 12:23 AM

that's what I had the developer of 2257 Made Easy working on...making sure I could mirror all my sites on a dedicated machine, then bulk select entire directories of content to add all at once for each model...with the locations showing as the actual URLs of the content on my various sites. took a bit, but works like a charm...everything is kept locally, but the URLs are as required by 2257 :-)

yes, very much - i'm technically challenged, so i liked the fact that there are flash movies that walk you through the installation process (setting up the iis on your local machine, etc) - it works great, and as i mentioned, the guy who wrote it was exceptionally diligent in working with me in getting the program to do exactly what i needed it to do --- he even wrote a new module that would go in the next version of the program to handle the situation, but emailed it to me separately because he knew i was anxious to get the data inputted ASAP. to me that was great tech support in any event, but particularly for a program that does what it's supposed to, for less than 50 bucks when most other solutions cost anywhere from $100-$1000. i was very pleased :-)

for anyone still looking for a solution...here's the latest i just got via email from the programmer on the latest version of 2257 Made Easy:

- On the home page and in the navigation, I have added a quick Help link
to all the Visual Walkthroughs
- Many of the fields to enter data have been expanded to support an
unlimited amount of characters. Those that aren't have field restrictions
- Entire application can be installed in any directory on the web server,
not just root. (but the data directory must stay)
- Content sets can now have a full typed in local path (ie.
/folder1/folder2/)
and be linked to it.
- Content items can now have full typed in local paths and be linked to it.
- When adding new Content items, you can now use an initial wildcard in the
Set Location field. Meaning that ( /folder1/Pic*.jpg) is now possible
- Additional "Use this website" field and checkbox have been added to
Content Items. So if you mirror your server, you can enter in the web url for
linking directly to offline content. So if you have /MySite.com on your
computer, you can put www.mysite.com in the field and it will link to your
website item. Was custom made, and I figured someone else may have a
use for it as well. NOT REQUIRED!
- In the Admin Info area, if you don't have ASPUpload, it will automatically
choose "No" and won't allow you to choose "Yes". If you're on a local
machine, it's not needed anyway.

Cool Content has a excel based system as a free download on their 2257 page

MikeSmoke 06-27-2005 11:46 AM

Mike, 2257Ware/MAVIS is designed a little different from the system you are talking about. Our spider goes out and pulls in published content from a server, it's not CMS based where you start on your hard-drive or content server (which is prohibited as per the regs). It is also not a web-based/client-server application which was also addressed by the regs as well as the 2257 Hanbook recently posted on XBiz and AVN.

MAVIS was designed to be used by many different types of users from a Primary Producer down to a part-time webmaster. There is a World of difference in these two applications, the only common link being they are both database apps.

If you have questions about the software feel free to hit me up anytime 346940591.

right, i understand (i think) how it works (and you're right, the systems based on the content servers are prohibited, as far as i can tell)...i was actually asking about the Cool Content excel-based system, which i wouldn't think is very robust <g>
