America treats it's prisoners like SHIT! [PROOF]

You fucking idiots. You thought this thread was about something else eh?

Well check... We treat our prisoners so fucking bad that we give them everything they need and more....

"For a time his favorite food was Cheetos, and when those ran out, Saddam would ?get grumpy,? the story says. One day the guards substituted Doritos corn chips, and Saddam forgot about Cheetos. ?He?d eat a family size bag of Doritos in 10 minutes,? Dawson says."

The only US weapons ever sold to Iraq were some cluster bombs during the Iraq/Iran conflict...and these were sold indirectly. The US did also sell a few rotary wing aircraft...and these were not gunships. Some US businesses did sell dual use materials...which were weaponized by Iraq. Iraq's weapons of war were bought primarily from the Soviets...but also from the French and Germans. There were no munitions...no mortars...no artillery...no tanks...no armored vehicles...no fixed wing aircraft...no transport vehicles...etc. sold to Iraq by the US. The Iraq Army was also trained by the Soviets.

Sure ...

Maybe like now : supply Soviet stuff and when used blame it on soviets .. ( Bush thinks Putin is a Soviet, not a Russian ...)

Since the US is the biggest weapons manufacturer, aside from Israel, where the hell do they sell them ????

"For Sunday they're going to be having Orange Glazed Chicken, Fresh Fruit Roupee, Steamed Peas and Mushrooms, Rice Pilaf - we treat them very well," he told Fox.

Last night, Hunter said, the U.S. "torture victims" enjoyed the same kind of gourmet fare, including an entree of "Lemon-baked Fish."

On the other hand, feeding the detainees MRE's, the standard fare given to our troops on the front lines, is strictly verboten - considered an "abuse" under restrictions imposed by Congress, Hunter said.

The top House Republican also noted that the religious practices of the terrorist suspects held at the U.S. "gulag" are scrupulously accommodated, explaining:

"We give them honey and dates when they break fast at Ramadan. We give them prayer beads and prayer oil - all paid for [by the U.S. taxpayer.]

"In fact," he said, "if you did that for American GI's - if you had a call to prayer five times a day - the ACLU would sue on the basis that we violated the separation between church and state."

the real thruth: Army personnel captured during combat operations NOT wearing their uniforms have no protection from Geneva convention...

So basically, if you are invaded and fight against the invader, you are a terrorist ... :1orglaugh

What about if there uniform is ... not to have one.

basschick 06-20-2005 12:36 PM

i read an article that claimed the prisoners in cuba are treated well because of what they are being fed. on the other hand, they are kept up all night, humiliated in many ways, forced to pee in their pants.

if i were a prisoner, i'd rather eat nothing but rice and NOT be abused.

They have been deemed to be "illegal enemy combatants" as they do not fall under the protection of the Geneva Convention...because they are not combatants that represent a government or a country.

Admittedly...under the rules of the Geneva Convention...they are supposed to have a formal tribunal make this decision.

FYI...the reason there has not been a single military tribunal...to judge the status of and or sentence the detainees at Gitmo...is because the civilian courts have enjoined the military from holding military tribunals...so until the matter is settled with the civilian courts...the military cannot formally charge the detainees with anything.

No need to thank me for educating you.

This "deeming" tendency sounds bad. OK... So we now have "illegal enemy combatants"? Don't think that is any term under Internation law is it?? We just made it up to suit... Odd no other country has found their terrorists to have this wonderful status of being both "illegal" and "enemy combatants". But.. suppose it must be like "illegal aliens".

But then we throw in the Geneva convention and some concept that they are "supposed to have a formal tribunal make this decision." Yeah?? :-) Which is it, ya playing by the Geneva Convention or not?

Civilian courts? Ah.. you mean these places that normally decide on military justice in jurisdictions outside US terrirory and under the terms of the Geneva Convention?

I deem that you are ignorant of the what in fact is written in the Geneva Convention. Combatants that do not wear a uniform...and do not represent any government and do not represent any country are not covered by the protections of the Geneva Convention...end of story.

The detainees are lucky that they are allowed to live. Under military law they could have been shot in the very beginning...as they are not protected by the Geneva Convention or any other law. They live at the benevolence of the USA.

So this Republican Senator is Anti-American... and an idiot according to you ??? LOL

I agree with Senator Hagel's assesment in...near...totality...and had the same thinking from the beginning. I knew that there were enough troops to defeat the Iraqi Army going in (in fact I predicted they would defeat the Army in ten days...it took a little more than twice that long) but I expressed the fear that the peace would be the hard part and that we were to short on troops to occupy a nation of 27 million and as geographically large as Iraq is.

Since it has been proven that the force was to small to occupy the country it is even more wrong that the US has not poured forces into the country. I disagree with Senator Hagel on this point...he said two maybe three times as many troops are needed in country...and I say a half million minimum...and probably closer to a million.

I have also been critical of the civilian micro management of military operations in Iraq. We have forced our military to pussyfoot around. Overwhelming...crushing...decisive force is required to win victories. War is a dirty event and there is no civil...clean...way to fight a war. People will die...young and old...but pussy footing around will prolong a conflict and will ultimately cost more lives...on both sides...than getting the job done the way it should be done...the way the military knows to do the job. It has been said "We had to destroy the city in order to save it"...and there is truth in the statement.

We are doing much the same thing we did in Vietnam...that conflict could have been ended in a single day...with the use of nukes...within 30 days of conventional bombing if the military would have been allowed to choose the targets...within 90 days if the military would have been allowed to launch a land invasion of the North.

The civilians are micro managing the Iraq was just the same as they did during the Vietam war...tying one hand of the military behind its back...prolonging conflict...which will ultimately cost more lives on both sides...and the end may be the same as Vietnam.
