"If we don't know your father is alive right now - if there is only a 90% chance that he is alive right now, then there is a chance that you can go back and kill him. "But if you know he is alive, there is no chance you can kill him." In other words, even if you take a trip back in time with the specific intention of killing your father, so long as you know he is happily sitting in his chair when you leave him in the present, you can be sure that something will prevent you from murdering him in the past. It is as if it has already happened. "You go back to kill your father, but you'd arrive after he'd left the room, you wouldn't find him, or you'd change your mind," said Professor Greenberger. "You wouldn't be able to kill him because the very fact that he is alive today is going to conspire against you so that you'll never end up taking that path leads you to killing him." I guess the idea of parallele universes or the idea that history can be re-written make more sense than that.. :2 cents: |
thats' retarded.. .they gave no real reason, just that "it wouldn't happen"
What law is that? US law? Federal or state? Basically it's scientists saying there's a God looking out for the past... giving no real explanation other than "you just can't" |
interesting read, without much detail, but it kind of makes sense.
however, if time travel were actually possible, than someone from the far future would have already done something in our present to fuck things up and he would've been caught because its human nature to fuck with things. holla back |
I didnt see where it explained how time travel is possible.

The further back you go, the more impact you have simply by being there. If you kill a bug, if you step on a plant, if you say one word to someone, if you have ANY kind of influence at all, it will have an impact on the future. So to say that you go back in time, you can't have an effect on something that will happen in the future... that's totally bogus. Sure you might not be able to kill your father to stop your birth, but perhaps you'll stop a bird from eating a worm if you step on the worm on the side walk. Just because it didn't inconvenience your future, doesn't mean you didn't change it. |
Time travel should be illegal.
