So I guess that places the majority of us in the population in that realm of weirdos and psychos. Actually if you don't believe in the paranormal that makes you the oddity :)

Three in Four Americans Believe in Paranormal
Little change from similar results in 2001

A recent Gallup survey shows that just about three in four Americans hold some paranormal belief -- in at least one of the following: extra sensory perception (ESP), haunted houses, ghosts, mental telepathy, clairvoyance, astrology, communicating with the dead, witches, reincarnation, and channeling. There are no significant differences in belief by age, gender, education, or region of the country.

the dead only know 1 thing... that it is better to be alive

in 1990 it was 93%

so it's tapering off..

and for the "stupid" angle:

"Finally, a 1989 CBS television poll done in conjunction with 48 hours uncovered that 75% of persons with a college degree believed in paranormal phenomena, while only 36% of people with less than a high school degree believed in these phenomena. In short, as education increased, so did belief."

You'll find the corroborating data on that at Gallup, Roper and Gannett/Marist College polls too. The smarter you are the more prone you are to comprehending information we'd refer to as paranormal.

This just in: 3 in 4 Americans are easily deceived.
