I got crabs!
 

Yup you read that right. Six dungeness crabs are now sitting in my refridgerator. Very large ones too. I feel so giddy.

Weird that you post this just now. I was just about to step out the door and go pick up some dungeness crabs myself. What are some recommended recipes for cooking them though? I'm gonna use lemon/salt/pepper dipping sauce and vinegar w/ginger sauce too.

Doing them a few ways. *Assume steaming, with vinegar, bay, lemon, and crab boil in water*

2 are scheaduled to me choped up after cooking and marinated in a vinergrette overnight. Then served cold as appetizer. (2nd personal fav)
2 are scheaduled to be used in a chipino for tomorrows dinner, still need to hit fish monger for some other fish. (personal fav)
Last 2 are for this evening. Steamed as well. Served up with drawn butter and lemon. Some sour dough, baked potatos, and a salad.

I prefer Alaskan King. But hey..

And a great place to get crab legs is HOOTERS.

So do I. Soon I love red king crab. Though blue and brown is almost as tasty.

I think I may have read it wrong and you meant Blue Crabs (like the Chesapeake Bay ones) and Browns. I have only had Red King Crabs and they are the shit! I saw them in half (or buy them split) and throw them onto the grill. Add garlic butter on a regular basis. When they're done there's no cracking or dipping involved, just grab a fork and pull that meat out! :thumbsup

I am curious to different dipping sauces though. I generally use drawn butter with a little bit of garlic but that's getting stale. For stone crabs I use a horseradish/mayanaise/mustard sauce....yum!

Ok, I'm REALLY going out to buy some crab now. I had my filet marinating all day, too! Fuckers! :winkwink:

By the way that site kicks ass for ordering stuff. Shipping is a wee bit expensive for small orders (like 1 pound) but get very worth it at 5lbs or more.
