looks interesting. get some more odd sized banners on there.

I agree, its interesting

what I say is meant as constructive criticism only because I think its a good concept :)

I would consider widening my target audience more to surfers .. here is how/why:
show surfers that they can keep up with the latest breaking artists and download free mp3 samples
let the surfers vote on their favorite songs/bands
encourage them to listen to other surfers favorites and vote on them also

The reason is you'd get alot more traffic and notoriety. If record labels find they can hear upcoming band samples PLUS get 'joe publics' feedback from a large traffic volume site they are more likely to use the service.

When bands hear that record labels are frequenting the site in search of new clients they will be more likely to use the service.

It seems to me it would all be based around free surfer access and their traffic levels making the site 'sellable'.

I'd also consider changing the main page of the site .. condense it down by making a foldout menu to give your descriptions or something. Thats a very long page and makes a person scroll forever imho

good luck :)

The idea of giving bands a resource to sell their digital music online (even if they have to send surfers from their own website) seems so simple.

I'll go back to that episode of the Apprentice where one team made meatball pizza. I immediately figured you generally don't see the big pizza makers offering such an obvious pizza since it's probably failed in the past. That ended up being correct.

The fact is that you'd be in direct competition with a premiere site like PureVolume.com. You will make people pay for what they offer totally free.

Plus your target market would be the teen to college demo. They simply aren't going to pay for garage band music, which is what you'd attract.

Unless you can ink deals with some serious up and coming bands (such as Warped Tour bands for instance) to sell their material on there, I don't see this site still being live by the end of the year.
