They found my stolen car...

My car had been stolen last Monday and since then i'd been pretty bummed out and all that. I get home from work this morning and I get a message on my answering machine from a detective. Apparently, the police have had my car since Friday and nobody bothered to call me about it. They caught the guy that stole the car, I found a link from the newspaper

http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1...915041,00.html

They found this guy with my car 3 BLOCKS AWAY. He had spray painted the car black, took all my shit from the inside of the car. However, this guy and his girlfriend are both speed addicts and decided to live in my car. They stole my two subs and amp and then replaced them with two other subs and two amps. Stole my dvd's and cd's and then left their cd's and dvd's in the car. They stole my rims off the car and then put their own rims on the car. What's really fucked is that they ripped the ignition so i've got to start the car with a screwdriver. That, and the fact that this guy BLED all over the car. Other than that i'm pretty happy that I got the car back rather than nothing.

I was actually switching insurance companies when this happened, so this is all out of pocket to fix it. :(

dude, overlap your insurance if you do that, even by just a day.

sounds cheaper to jsut buy a new car.

why provided its insured I would rather never see the car ever again.
There is the term "drive it like you stole it" for a reason.
If its insured after 30 days jsut cash your check.

I had my car stolen, and they found it 2 weeks later, and it was never the same, insurance paid to have things fixed like the control arsm that were bent, the alingment, new front wheels cause they were bent, new rear tires cause the cords were showing, and a blown head gasket, but still, it was never the same, I'm glad someone ran the red and hit me in it (ok, no i'm not, cause it really fucked up my back)

I took some pics of it tonight. I left them at my friend's house though. I'll put them up tomorrow. There's blood stains on each visor and the ceiling and all over the dashboard. It's cozy to say the least. :(

The car is a 98 Civic LX. I want to go get another car but I still owe enough on this car to make that not possible at this time.

Yeah I wish I would have overlapped insurance now, that was a mistake that will NEVER happen again.

Someone today told me that I can take this guy to court for the damages to my car. However, the fact that he has a 50k warrant over his head may make that difficult for me to see any money from it. I did find some phone numbers in the car and I googled them and got some addresses. I'm gonna go over there tomorrow with some friends and see if I can't ask nicely for my stuff back :)

I am, I know I come off sounding pissed but I think i'm still in shock that they actually found it in a driveable condition. The chances of them finding it were real slim, i'm a lucky guy.
