Republicans want to roast Big Bird
You know that email petition that keeps circulating about how Congress is slashing funding for NPR and PBS? Well, now it's actually true. (Really. Check the footnotes if you don't believe us.)
A House panel has voted to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. http://www.freepress.net/publicbroadcasting |
People should only watch Fox and CNN, anything else is bad for the country. Freedom is slavery.

Roast big bird? spit-roast? saying this on a porn board really gives it a whole more messed up meaning

I get most of my news off the AP wire. I'm not sure how baised that is. |

I have NEVER seen a fundraising drive on PBS where anyone has said that they are 100% member funded. Besides if the government expects corporations to help fund public TV then it shouldn't shock them that the shows might be baised. If I donated millions to PBS and then they did a show that was negative about me then I'd pull all my funding. Now PBS wouldn't want that now would they? |
