Work Conditions: Extreme Heat or Paint Fumes?

So the floor my office is on at work got a new coat of paint yesterday and after working for 4 hours or so I got a headache so I decided to work from home on Tuesday. Sounds great, except we've been having a heat wave the last 5 days here so the A/C in my building is now dead. So which would you rather work in, extreme heat or getting headaches from paint fumes? At this rate, I'm considering taking my laptop and working in my car!

Only place I can think of with wireless internet is UW campus and that'll just re-hash old nightmares!

Get in your car and drive to Orangeville. I will set you up in a cool office with a 20 MBPS connection.

Its time to work at home for a day or so and be able to actually focus. You wont have a really great day with a combination of wicked headache from fumes + blazing heat....

Power of the remote office :)

Abyss_Vee 06-14-2005 09:58 AM

take a week off and relax

loverboy 06-14-2005 10:08 AM

I second that, but if I had to choose DEFINITE HEAT I wouldn't be able to stand the paint fumes at all..at least at home you can cool off with ice cold drinks (alcoholic preferred) take a shower and continue working, with a headache your not going to peacefully get anything done

WiredGuy 06-14-2005 12:44 PM

LOL, so I ended up taking a 4 hour nap at home.

Orangeville is actually not that far from waterloo, except the roads are very weird. A lot of them are dirt roads, no direct highways and there's this one bridge in a menonite town that has a maximum weight capacity of 3 tons. When I drove to DH's place I gunned it over that bridge thinking it would collapse since my car is 3.3 tons, lol.

Iam not sure which is worse, but I can let you know
Friday the painters are coming to paint and the temps will be around 27C

tranza 06-14-2005 12:58 PM

Go to the UW campus!

angel_x3ws 06-14-2005 01:00 PM

id take extreme heat anytime....paint fumes tend to trigger my asthma..hehehe..but since i am living in the tropics...extreme heat is a usual stuff..

Holly 06-14-2005 01:03 PM

I kinda like the smell of fresh paint. Since I live somewhere with near 100% humidity for much of the year, I'd take just about anything over heat. Get some ibuprofen and crank up the A/C.

3.3 tons?

Geeze what are you driving, a tank?

EviLGuY 06-14-2005 01:16 PM

I'd take the paint fumes.. I can't work at all when I am sweaty. Then again I'd hate to see what I would do when high on paint fumes like a sniffer. :D

eamedia 06-14-2005 01:19 PM

library?

NetRodent 06-14-2005 01:34 PM

Paint fumes kill brain cells. As much as I hate the heat, I'd rather be temporarily uncomfortable than risk my long term health.

Vitasoy 06-14-2005 02:19 PM

Go buy some AC units place them all over your home

Um, I don't think your car is 3.3 tons. :1orglaugh most likely 3300 lbs, unless you bought a tank I didn't know about... :upsidedow

My bad on that calculation, I keep thinkin 1 ton = 1000 lbs, instead of 2000. But yes, my little acura is a tank in my world :)
