vicious Review: JVC HD 10U Hi Def Camera

As a courtasy to my fellow videographers I've decided to post rather then write an article on this camera. Mostly cus I strongly beleive this camera plainly SUCKS.

On Paper the camera looks good, HD Record at 1080 interlaced, Mini DV Record too. But what the fuck was JVC thinking when they designed the inner workings of this camera, Yah the Piviting handle is cool but what about audio? Last I knew audio was an intergretal part of a video recording .. JVC doesn't think so, JVC thinks it's Auto Record Levels are good enough even for the seasoned pro. So even though they make an XLR Balanced adptor for this camera they don't give you the option to manually modulater the incoming audio. Ok Ok .. it's just porn how important is sound .. in my opinion sound is just as if not more important to good video. Without sound you wouldn't know if she's faking or not. Without sound a Hardcore scene would be, well soft.

Let's move on to video recording .. Ok not much choice when it comes to white balance. and JVC's Whites seem to be stuck in the CTB circle. that is to say no matter what type of lighting I was using the White balance seems to balance to daylight even though I was using Tungsten. Odd. If that wasn't enough JVC felt once more that we are too stupid to use a Manual Gain Contol. This camera only allows the camera to decide when there isn't suffiant lighting ....

If these simple but very important points are still not enough to deter you from buying this inexpensive Camera then maybe the focus ring and Zoom ring will do the trick. You need to slap (remember I use the term slap) this camera to manual mode. I don't know how small the fingers of the delevoper where when he designed the on button. Scene after Scene I cursed this camera. Only to dream of my PD 150. Whose colors BTW are much more superior to that of the JVC.

So in conclusion, if you were thinking of buying this camera to shoot crappy porn ... Do it. But if your like me and quality of image is a big concern chuck this camera in the dumpster.

Needless to say There will be 2 JVC HD 10U cameras for sale on Ebay Shortly... Any interested in a wide angle adptor too?

That Jvc is a weak camera its only 1 ccd where your pd 150 is 3 and it was first gen which always sucks. I personally dont understand the need people have to shoot porn in hd but the next gen jvc hdv camera is supposed to kick ass with a changable lens.

Fact is that there isn't that many people on the board who produce their own content ... and even less with high quality equipement.

But I'm sure there is couple people interested still ... and that's what matter. You can't expect 100 replies in a thread like this :(
