Do you see yourself in adult in 10 -15 years ?

Me , I'm never sure ...
As the kids get older I find more and more that things I see in adult bug me .

I'm sure I will always do design of some sort , but wonder if I will hang up the " adult " someday .

A few years back I was proud to say what I did , but after a few years I learned its best to keep that to yourself .

The more people that know what you do , the more they can hurt you . My new neighbours think I am a drug dealer , and for some reason I have a feeling they'd be more comfortable assuming that , rather than know the truth :1orglaugh

I also fear what my kids will think of my carreer , Any parents with older kids that know ? What do they think of what you do ?

My kids are now 7 , 5 and 4 so we are quickly getting to the age where they'll be catching on to what dad does for a living .. just not sure how its going to sit with me when they know what I do :P

kaylacruz 06-13-2005 09:31 PM

as a "model" for a site it's hard to say how long that will last for me as trully enjoying it, I dont want to do something I don't enjoy!!

It's hard as a mom though to kinda see all these things you dont want your kids doing!

NTSS 06-13-2005 09:32 PM

Hell, I just got started....I'll be selling porn till the day I die.

Porn4Life :pimp

Sly 06-13-2005 09:33 PM

How would your kids ever catch on to what you do for a living? You tell them you design websites.

abyss_al 06-13-2005 09:34 PM

I'd like to be retired by then :thumbsup

kernelpanic 06-13-2005 09:35 PM

I don't know. Depends on the market in 10-15 years, and if there is any quick money left.

tony286 06-13-2005 09:36 PM

I dont know with all the shit going on , its very foggy right now.

Kids know more than you think bro .

My middle son walked up to me and said " daddy I know a work word "
So I'm like okay what word .. just out of curiosity and he says " GFY " :1orglaugh

I am BARELY on GFY so imagine what else he knows that I don't ..
I mean he can barely read so I know he's heard either me or steph say it .. but still point is you can't keep kids from knowing things , not for long anyway :Oh crap

nofx 06-13-2005 09:38 PM

no kids, no problems

kernelpanic 06-13-2005 09:38 PM

Does he know what GFY means, or what it is though?

At least he heard GFY and not porn. If he goes around telling other kids that his daddy is into GFY it won't be much of a problem, as compared to him telling everyone his daddy is into porn :1orglaugh

Oh , I'm 100% sure he doesnt have a clue what it means .. but thats when shit is the most dangerous :1orglaugh they'll say it at random .

"GFY" isn't that bad .. I could cover that easily ..

My kids have refered to me as " machinegunkelly " which I have tried to alter with little luck

shann 06-13-2005 09:45 PM

You'd be surprised how non judgemental kids are, my daughter is 14 and though i never really told her what I did she just one day told me that her friend's dad does the same thing as I do....I tried not to say it around her but after doing this for 6 years, shit just slips out. It's a good living, nothing much to complain about.

I don't think I'm too much worried about them judging me .. more worried about my daughter ending up in front of a camera I guess ,mixed thoughts .

I also worry about ridicule at school should friends find out etc . Teachers singling them out , parents not wanting thier kids to play with " the pornographers " kids ..

Just don't want them to live with any repercussions for my career choice I guess.

Right now its where the money is , so here I am ..... in 10 years I don't have a clue what I'll be doing, and its crossing my mind more and more each day

xlogger 06-13-2005 09:52 PM

Were you serious about you're neighbours think u r a drug dealer? That would be funny. If i was you're neighbour, i would ask for some free weed. :1orglaugh

You'd have to get a look at me I guess ,
I'm 25 skinny , long hair and tats and sit at home all day .

They called my landlord and told them they were sure I was selling drugs ... I guess people in this town don't understand that some people work from home lol.

They are total tight asses .. :1orglaugh

xlogger 06-13-2005 09:58 PM

Damn, you're only 25 and have 3 kids? What do you have - super sperms?

Chances of that are slim to none IMO, the more educated your kids are the better decisions they can make.
As far as interaction with other kids and parents and the schools, fuck them none of their business. I was freaked that my daughter told anyone, but we don't move in the kind of circles that would be offended by it and neither does she.

webmite 06-13-2005 10:02 PM

You need an assumed occupation as cover. And you need to make it look good by actually doing some of the things of your cover. Here are some ideas.

1. web designer
2. research analyst (as in using the net for research)
3. software consultant
4. web marketing consultant
5. web hosting business owner

if you want something more elaborate

6. real estate agent (no sweat to get a license)
7. notary public (easy to get licensed)
8. private investigator (if your state doesn't have license reqs)

I got some of the ideas from the book, How To Make Money With Adult Web Sites Ethically and Anonymously from Amazon.com. There's a bunch of others you can think of.

Now if only I had super patience :1orglaugh

All kidding aside I wouldn't have done it differently .. I'm young enough to keep up .. All my friends are just now having babies and its nice to have fully developed kids that can understand english while everyone fusses with their screamin babies LOL

Demand for porn is expected to dry up within the next 5-10 years so there won't be any money in it after that :2 cents:

I don't think it will dry up ever ,
I do however think that the government will make it too much of a pain in the ass to bother trying though

I don't see this " easy living " lasting much longer .. the signs are all over

Interesting...

After designing sites for local bands and such for a couple years for no bread, getting into adult was awesome. Quit the main job, Great money, be your own boss, etc. Exceeded my wildest expectations.

However, a year or so into it the novelty of the money/freedom begins to wear off and you're left with the realization of what it is that one is doing. 'I am' a pornographer. Certainly never what I set out to do.

I have a 4 year old son. Love of my life....and oh... how he loves his daddy.

I also have a great father, whom I admire, respect, and idolize. He spent his life serving the public, and I couldn't be prouder to call him my dad.

I guess what it boils down to, is how I want my son to look at me as he grows older. Is my 'job' - a masquaraded series of lies and deceit something that 'he' will be proud of...brag to his friends about?

I've been working my buns off the past 6 months getting numerous mainstream projects off the ground. Hopefully, within the next couple years I will be able to 'hang up' the adult biz, as you say, and focus on work that I can be more 'proud' of, and hopefully leave a legacy my son will be proud of also.

Exactly what I find myself thinking .
When my kid has " go to work day " he's gotta go with grampa instead of me .

My father is a respected government slave , gave his entire life to the government for nothing more than to feed his kids .

I have more respect than he would ever know , and so does pretty much anyone that knows him ..
When he is on his death bed he will be able to close his eyes and know he " played the game " just like he told me my whole life ....... " you gotta play the game kelly " he did well for himself even though nothing was on his side his whole life .

Some times I wonder if when I am on my death bed I will be able to do the same .

I think there is great reason to be .
I work more with webmasters than surfers and I notice that pockets arent anywhere near as deep as they used to be all over .. and its getting harder .

Adult internet may evolve into something even more profitable in the longrun , but there will be a serious thinning of the flock in the meantime .

I have a few projects in mainstream making me money , but not enough to replace my adult income at this point .. I'll be putting 100% more focus on my mainstream projects this year .

Spam dried up, then did herbal/Rx, and adult is doing the same.

I think its becoming oversaturated with people all looking for the quick money based off tales of others. You hear about all the spam/porn kings on television and in print, and ordinary people that know 3 HTML tags suddenly become mister bigshot webmaster and try to emulate that. Its saturating the market.

Things started out with people who knew where there was money to be made and went after it, even though it was a new field. Now, its a bunch of weekend warriors trying to emulate the forerunners. :Oh crap

My neighbours think I'm a drug dealer too ... I'm like 12-15 years younger then EVERYBODY arround here ... all new houses with kids all over...

The guy that built the houses still got a lot of "rent to buy" places on this street . He came to my place and asked me what I was doing (he was into internet bizz too) . Was a pretty interesting moment .

He told me they thought it was a hell angels bunker or something ... hell I rarely smoke weed myself and I've never made any big party here lol

ADL_JD 06-14-2005 07:19 AM

Who knows... But I do plan on being better diversified in the next 10 - 15 years. Most of my income still comes from adult and I would like to have some additional sources of income.

I had to break down and tell a few neighbors what I do but they don't know where to find it. It's too hard to explain how I never go to work and live in a three bedroom house all by myself and have them seeing me bringing in hoes with tight pants and shorts on....I'm admired for it...A couple of weeks ago, one of my neighbors told me that he knows of a girl that wants to get naked.

Now that they know, it's business as usual.

EroticySteve 06-14-2005 07:26 AM

I don't think that there is as much stigma as some make it out to be. The more that people know the less they'll speculate and the more they'll realize this is a business like any other. Some of us in the biz get more involved in our work than others, but for most of us it isn't Boogie Nights. It's more like late nights, deadlines, and goals to achieve.

Basic_man 06-14-2005 07:28 AM

I'm still young, so 10-15 years seems realistic to me !
