Got a $75 offer on Tog.com, must read

Here is the offer and my reply

Quote:

Hi,

I notice that you are the registrar for the domain
tog.com and that you
aren't doing anything with it. If you would be
interested in selling your
domain I would be willing to offer you $75 for it.

Please advise.

Thanks

OK,

I am offering $220 for a domain costing $15.95,
that's over $200 profit for
something that is sitting there doing nothing and
has been doing so for
years.

Mate, I would like the domain but it's not THAT big
a deal, it would be a
pointer anyway so I can certainly live without it.

It's my final offer, you do the sums!

If it has been sitting there for years they have payed
the domain fee for the same years mostly 5-10 years
for (this type of domain) so in most cases no profit
;)

and i waiting for min 20k for this domain

Mate, I work for a webhosting company so I've got a pretty good idea
what
domains are being sold for.

20K, for a word that means nothing, you are dreaming buddy! If it was
worth
that much you would have offers 10 times a day!

I had clients buying some bloody good domain names which had multiple
people
after em and still they only went for a 1,000K and they "meant"
something!

Enjoy the wait, it'll be till the end of time!

I got 2 offer on 10k, and that was 2 hours after i
listed in on a forum, and it's a one word. Tog means
To dress up or clothing so i don't think it's going to
be hard to sell it. olt.com sold 93k and severall 3
letter has sold for 15-25k

Corleone 06-13-2005 01:43 AM

I'll give you $100 ;)

would be the deal of my life ;)

Turboface 06-13-2005 01:53 AM

tog.com?

Imagine the possibilities:

Tounges on Girls.
Tits on Genitals.
Toking on Ganga.
Tons of Girls.

If you want, list it on Nicdo. That's a valuable domain name.

:thumbsup

Tog
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Tog is a measure of thermal resistance, commonly used in the textile industry, and often seen quoted on duvets.

The Shirley Institute in Britain developed the tog as an easy to follow scale instead of the SI unit of m2K/W. Launched in the 1960s the Shirley Togmeter is the standard apparatus for rating thermal resistence, commonly known as the Tog Test.

A tog is 0.1 m2K/W. Another unit of thermal resistance is the clo, equal to 1.55 togs.

Yes, prices of 3 letter .com's have been rising over the last few months.

In the top 50 domain sales this year we have 3 entries for 3 letter .com's:

#8 OLT.com $93,000
#10 GLU.com $75,000
#30 Cow.com $45,400

So yes I do think the $20K he's asking is reasonable.

It's a buyer's market. If he gets that, more power to him. Otherwise I really think the name is shit. I'm sure someone will find a good use for it though.

I can understand your point although I disagree that the name is shit, at least he already has several 10K offers on the table, so if he want he can get a nice price anyway. I think if he sits on it for a while that he can even get that 20K he wants because these names will just become more rare over time.

Alky 06-13-2005 03:00 AM

yea personally i dont think its worth 20k, but to the right person it is. i think lensman had purchased cams.com for 25k when he bought it, if i remember correctly..

so 20k for tog just doesnt seem right

That was 100 years ago in internet time. How much did he sell it for RECENTLY?

just a tad bit more :winkwink:

DVTimes 06-13-2005 03:51 AM

I would have taken the 10K.

There was a time names were worth a lot more as everybody thought they were going to be millionaires, but this did not happen.

Its a nice sounding name but tog.com is not going to get many people typing it in.

I think if it was tag.com that would be diffenerent.

Anyway, its up to you. If you get 20k for it then that's cool, but you may find that in 10 years time you still are sat on it.

Id have to disagree. Firstly, on the basis on current market, I think $20k is more than fair for this domain but also lets consider the smart entrepreneur who wants a short dot com that can be heavily promoted.

With Tog.com, theres hardly any scope for loss of traffic through typographical errors.

Ogix 06-13-2005 08:11 AM

selling domain names could make big money, wouldn't it? :pimp

anyways he offered u $75 .. lol is that kid an idiot?

brand0n 06-13-2005 08:30 AM

20k for that is nuts

MaxxxBeaver 06-13-2005 08:37 AM

Do you know what's hiliarious about this...

The gentleman that contacted him said that a client of his company usually purchases very nice website names for $1000k...

Meaning, That they purchase website names (but only good ones) at $1 Million dollars...

NTSS 06-13-2005 08:42 AM

Obviously the name is worth much more than he offered. Is it worth 10k? I would say yes. 20k? To the right buyer. However, I think it is a smart decision to hold on to it. It could be worth even more over time.

So maybe a client was interestead in it for 75 lol
it would be fun to see what names he bought for 1 million

Platinumpimp 06-13-2005 09:24 AM

He's just frustrated that he couldn't take it from you for a steal and resell it for a lot more. :1orglaugh

sweetcuties 06-13-2005 09:30 AM

He works for a web co... sounds like a 9-5er. Fuck him, get what you want or close to it. I regret selling one of my gambling domains for just $2,500... my asking was 10k

Yes i sold one of my other names to cheap, 1.5k when i could have gotten 3k. So im not doing the same mistake again

Juilan 06-13-2005 10:22 AM

All the 3 letter domains are gone. Ones that don't have dictionary meaning are selling for $5K. If you got a 10K offer fucking take it dude! $5-$7K max. :2 cents:

fris 06-13-2005 10:27 AM

listen pal, you have gotten offers of 10k, you will never get 20k, i would run with the 10k, i sen you trying to sell crap domains like xxxbang for 10$, now you have a good fucking domain. i wouldnt waste your time waiting around.

just dump it.

Wiggles 06-13-2005 10:52 AM

that domain doesn't look that good, i'd get rid of it for the 10k.

Alex 06-13-2005 11:10 AM

10k is extemely good.

3 letter domains are valuble, and im sure you will find an enduser for 10k.

But it's your choise, so sit on it if you will.

DVTimes 06-13-2005 11:50 AM

As time goes on, it will probably be worth much less.

I suspect that you could get a 3 letter domain for under 20k with ease. Just imagine how many there are out there. Yes people are sat on them to try to get rich, but they will slowly get sold. And as they get sold, there value decreases (more available will mean less demand).

Also with new .domains, such as .xxx .jobs and so on, means you will be able to get hold of more 3 letter domains.

I would suggest to anyone with domains they are not using to sell them now. Otherwise you could in a few years own names worth nothing.

Worse still is if they bring out a version 2 or 3 of the net that does not use domains.

Of course there is a chance domains will increase in value, but I doubt it.

Many firms who want decent names are not being blackmailed into buying expensive names. Rather they are thinking up clever names for themselves. And its working for them. The result is that thousands of people have spent huge amounts of money on domains that they may never be able to sell, or at least for big profits.

Yes one or two people have made good money, but I see more domains now being released onto the net.

Lets face it, in porn, there are probably only a handful of decent domains, all the rest are just second best. Domains such as sex, porn, adult, xxx (names people will try for porn) are voluble.

Vick! 03-08-2007 02:43 AM

bump this.

See how that guy was confident about the domain and at last he sold at $40K

And look at a crook trying to get that domain for $220 :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

good luck seller.

HighSociety 03-08-2007 02:54 AM

DId he still have it two years later? He is either really happy he did or pissed that he listened to the people telling him to sell it

Violetta 03-08-2007 03:21 AM

haha... that dude is a joke.

Anyway, TOG = TRAIN here in Norway. Perhaps some norwegian companies are interested
