woke me out of a coma
and man my house was rocking |
I had just bought my 22" talking 'Iron Giant' action figure with motion detection 'guard action' and placed it above my desk along with all my new action figure statues and got a wee mile rocking in my bed for about 5 seconds. Nothin' major at all. I would have been pissed if my shit fell off the display rack.

dam glad i live in jersey lol i wouldn't be able to deal with that bullshit all the time
Its strange I was in a few 5.5+ and never really felt that big a jolt. One in Rotorua was centered just about under my bed as well!
The biggest I was in was a 7.2, I was about 150K away but the ground felt like the ocean under my feet. If you havnt felt an EQ and would like to experiance one stay in Wellington NZ for a week... you can always spot the tourists when that place rocks :) |
Yep, felt it. All the dogs went crazy barking in the neighborhood.
I felt it... woke me up and I jumped out of bed... Never felt an earthquake before and I didn't know what it was at first.

FUCK I am in Downtown LA and it shook like a motherfucker here.
We don't get quakes up here in Winnipeg, but while down in Acapulco several years ago I felt one. It was a baby tremor really, lasted about maybe 12 seconds or so, but was enough to shake the furniture in the hotel room around a bit. My roommate freaked out so bad from it I nearly had to throw him in the pool to calm him down. :D
No aftershocks where I am in Los Feliz. Just a quiet Sunday mornin'!
id freak out if i was in an earthquake
No big deal. I've felt better ones..Come-on SD you can do better than that!
I think I was in Jamba Juice when this happened. I didn't feel a thing however.

That time in Mexico when we had a 10 second tremor, my buddy who is also from Winnipeg litterally jumped off his fucking bed in a panic, causing his bed to pull about a foot out from the wall. He then proceeded to freak out and rant, and then started saying "LOOK.. LOOOK!! THE FUCKING BED MOVED A FOOT AWAY FROM THE FUCCKING WALL!!!"....... :1orglaugh I tried telling him that my bed hadn't moved much, and that it was because of him jumping out of his so fast causing it to move more.... he wouldn't listen. I nearly had to bitchslap the fucker to calm him down. And.... a lot of people think there are more quakes going on in SoCal than there actually are. I was there back in '82 for over a week and never felt a thing, and I know that it is actually a pretty rare occurance. |
While living in SoCal, I always laughed at "out-of-staters" who got their first "ride" in a quake. As for those of you in SoCal now, from out of state, it was only 5.6. On top of that, I'm told that it was a "roller," not a "shock-type" so you really had no problems. I always enjoyed the "free ride."
I was living in Hollywood, in the 70's, when the 7.1 shocker hit. Power pole transformers were exploding, shit was falling, the dog pee'd on the bed, it was 60 seconds of pure hell. And, we had large aftershocks for a couple weeks after it hit. So, you whiners who had your 5.6 roller experience, STFU! LOL |
