600,000 New Millionaires
 

Merrill Lynch & Co.'s annaul World Wealth Report showed 600,000 new millionaires worldwide for 2004.

There are now 8.3 million millionaires. In 2004 their total wealth increased by 8.2% to $30.8 Trillion which represents 25% of the world's financial assets.

a million USD doesn't exactly go as far as it once did -- let's not forget the effect of inflation in this -- there are a lot more billionaires (and thousandaires, for that matter), too -- doesn't necessarily mean more people are gettich "rich" -- or that ML is helping them get there -- :winkwink:

I worded that wrong. What I meant was I didn't realize there were that many "new" millionaires in a year. That is a quite impressive number.

You forgot a quarter from 4 Million people....25 cents for a .01 cent gum ball. now that's a profit!

This really is the best way to think about it. It's volume that's important. $100 bucks is nothing but if you can convince 10,000 people to give you $100 bucks you have a million bucks.

being a millionaire doesn't mean your rich. You only need 1 million to be a millionaire and 1 million doesn't buy shit these days you still need a business or a high paying job cause each year that million dollars loses 2% of its worth.

heh cool, the 3 boys we went to private school with their dad owns aic insureance he has 14 billion in assests and worth 1.4 billion. i think hes #8th or somewhere on canadas rich list.

$1,000,000 isn't much really. In the UK its only half a million pounds. Enough to buy a nice house, car and some clothes....maybe even a holiday!

The term millionaire is thrown around in the US.

The report for here was of +400 millionaires last year...

Sadly, $1mil really isn't that much anymore. 20 years ago you could have retired with 30 more years to live and $1mil would have been more than enough. With inflation, cost of heathcare, etc. there's no way you could do that now :(

most of them are prlly the children of other millionaires... not many ppl go from livin low/mid class to millionaire like that... unless they can rap or play basketball or somethin
