Interesting read Jay.

NTSS 06-10-2005 04:33 PM

Nice read...I don't think this new 2257 shit is gonna hold up in court.

Sarah_Jayne 06-10-2005 04:40 PM

so, what happens once it is filed? What is the timeline and process after that?

jollyperv 06-10-2005 05:15 PM

"....created, out of thin air, the definition of "secondary producer" that contradicted the express terms of the statute."

I love it.

tranza 06-10-2005 05:22 PM

Jay, can I ask you something?

Why don't you use TCG?

Agree NTSS!

There are also several other issues, some being international in flavor, which, even using common sense and no industry bias, are just lala land words.

Uhm, he does use it. Look at his site.

seeric 06-10-2005 06:07 PM

2257 basically slapped the judge in the face that presided over the sundance case. they are basically saying, "fuck your case and the law it created, we don't give a fuck. we are unconstitutional bible thumping fuckers that bear no recourse to what we do."

"p.s., can you still keep sending 1000's of extra hookers each year to washington for the conventions, we almost ran out this time. we still had tax dollars to spend on ass and it went to waste". thanks. the politicians.

RingoChen 06-10-2005 10:43 PM

Thats really not something you should rely on. As a direct result of the terrorists acts of 9-11 that the U.S. Government appeared to have a common target. It sounded so logical: there are terrorists in the house, they are threatening the so-called Free World, there must be laws against them. But one look only closer at the laws and it appeared that civil rights were as much a target as terrorism was.
These laws might give the US the right to declare whomever it pleases a terrorist, but they can also act as a sort of "Demagogic" Sword against activists in the country where they are in force. The definition of ?terrorist? is so vague that you now have to think not twice, but several times over, before say, joining or organizing protests, where these protest can be held and in whos name or what organization's name are these protests being held.
It's simply "Un-Patriotic" to protest? Recently the Electronic Frontier Foundation obtained and released the draft for "The US Patroit Act Powers". The new draft is not in the venue of "reform" but "expansion" to an already incredulous open ended invasion of privacy. For all they know .... NTSS stands for "National Terriorists Sex Sites" and this would warrant further investigation cough cough ....
I hope that people in this forum are truly looking past their pockets and just crossing their fingers. If ever there was a time for another "tea party" it's right now.

Ringo

In layman's terms. . .. you go to the court, and say, "this law is unfair, and we would like to challenge it, but while we are waiting for the case to be heard, you should not enforce the law, because it would not be fair to the person requesting it."

It is like a TRO

Now all we need is someone to win a case against the new regs.

Usually motions like that are heard rather quickly . . . but to be honest, this is Federal Court, and I never played with the kids on that block

venus 06-11-2005 11:33 PM
