seriously? do they still have caps on how much bandwidth you can use in a given month? i know when i looked into them years ago they had all kinds of restrictions. something that doens't mind me using a good chunk of upload for torrents and such would be nice too.

Paraskass 06-14-2005 10:55 AM

move to Gatineau.

get Videotron.

Doctor Dre 06-14-2005 11:00 AM

If you can get Videotron extreme ... it's like 4x faster then sympatico ultra high speed edition ... not in the same boat . No idea for idea for ontario thought.

I don't think they do anymore ... or it have been risen a lot . But their overal support sucks cocks . 95 % of the people that work in support can't even speak proprely any of both official languages.

BlackCrayon 06-14-2005 11:26 AM

is rogers cable any good? i've heard of ppl getting shut down for using too much bandwidth with them in the past. i might go with sympatico because i really have no idea whats available there. the ppl i know there aren't very computer savvy. videotron sounds good but i have my doubts that its available in ontario, tho i will look into it.

vidvicious 06-14-2005 11:27 AM

kaylacruz 06-14-2005 02:50 PM

rogers is alright from what ive heard, but can be annoying with being up and down from time to time

JimmiDean 06-14-2005 04:27 PM

Sympatico here never a problem and no BW caps

JimmiDean 06-14-2005 04:28 PM

Email on the way Vid

BlackCrayon 06-15-2005 10:04 AM

thanks everyone, i'll probably go with sympatico.

BlackCrayon 06-17-2005 11:15 AM

well i found out that i can only get their basic high speed package where i am moving. shitty. 256k max download, booo. so im considering cable, rogers is one. if its up and down thats no good tho, i need something that is on all the time. is cable bad for going up and down? also need one that doesn't mind me using a lot of uploads (for torrents and uploading movies).

Check out http://www.canadianisp.com/

I'm in Ottawa and using Rogers. I get 600kbps down and 100kbps up.

Between the hours of 2-4AM, I've had minor downtimes for less than a few minutes off and on.

There's been no single problems with their 60GB bandwidth cap to date. I've exceeded their bandwidth cap by 2-3 times the given volume and no single complaints or warnings.

I am in Montreal and have stinkpatico. I hate it. If i could go with cable I would. Way faster too. I know a couple of people with Stinkpatico in Ottawa and across Ontario and its the same crap. I would vote against it.. if there was a vote.

UniqueMovies 06-17-2005 08:01 PM

I have both Rogers Extreme and Sympatico Ultra installed here at home and they are both pretty close (80k/sec upload and 400k /sec download). I am moving to Gatineau next week and I ordered the Videotron Extreme. :)

If your outside of the downtown area and need highspeed check out http://www.storm.ca they offer highspeed wireless but you need line of sight to the nearest tower.

BlackCrayon 06-20-2005 05:48 PM

storm looks cool, i was checking them out before. has anyone heard anything about travel-net? they say they are one of the oldest isps in ottawa. i just need something that will give me dsl and unlimited bandwidth. 60 gigs with rogers should be enough but i don't really know how much i use now. i just know i download a lot of shit.
