KEN CAMPBELL
SPORTS REPORTER

Negotiators for the NHL and the NHL Players' Association have made so much progress on defining revenues and salary-cap issues that they've moved on to other important aspects of the bargaining agreement.

Sources also contend that the deal is actually being written and lawyered as the process goes on, so that when the two sides eventually do come to an agreement ? likely this month ? they will be able to bring the completed document to their constituents for ratification votes as soon as possible.

Amid all the optimism, the Globe and Mail website reported yesterday that the two sides have agreed on a formula for a salary cap based on team-by-team revenues. If that's the case, it would certainly curtail the spending of a team such as the Leafs, but still give them a decided advantage over the small-market teams that don't produce nearly as much revenue.

I've detached myself so much frmo these motherfuckers that I don't really think I give a shit anymore. Fuck them both. Spent the money I would have used on season tickets this year to take a wonderful holiday to South Africa. I hope this lockout shit continues. I'd need another vacation.

Interesting.....

Didn't the players reject a 42.5 million dollar salary cap at the "final stand" in the winter?

From the article:
"According to the website, the framework of a six-year deal has been settled and payrolls will be a reflection of a percentage of each team's revenue. In the first year of the contract, the revenue floor would be $22 to $24 million (all figures U.S.), with a ceiling of $34 to $36 million.

A dollar-for-dollar luxury tax ? that would go to the lower-revenue teams ? would kick in at the midway point between the floor and the ceiling, which would be at $29 million if the floor were $22 million and the ceiling $36 million."

Of course now they're going to get less considering revenues will be much lower so they're getting what they deserve......... less!

Didnt really watch it before, defenitely wont now. These fucking professional athletes and their strikes. Hockey players are probably underpayed and what not in comparison to most other sports but all these athletes bitch about what they get paid claiming things like the possibility of injury for the reason they should be paid more, while my friend who is a cage fighter just got paid $300 bucks to fight UFC veteran Joe "Diesel" Riggs. If anyone can bitch its cage fighters. Even the ones who fight regularly at the UFC make $50,000 or less.
