Check this out. This shit annoys the FUCK out of me. She referrs to all band members by their first names. Like I would miraculously be able to pick up on her brain-waves that she's thinking about a PARTICULAR Marc, James, Joe, Jon, whatever. Anyway, this is one of the annoying quirks of hers that caused me to break up with her a couple weeks ago.


ExGirlfriend: just got home
xenigo: oh yeah?
xenigo: what did you do tonight?
ExGirlfriend: went to see marc
xenigo: a friend of yours?
ExGirlfriend: no, not really
xenigo: when you talk about artists by first names I can't tell if you're talking about friends or what...
xenigo: it's like if I were to say I went to go see Jon
xenigo: and you'd say huh?
ExGirlfriend: I know who jon is
xenigo: but I'm talking about Jon Mayer... duh...
xenigo: see what I mean?
ExGirlfriend: john mayer
xenigo: I don't know all your friends...
ExGirlfriend: it's spelt joH
xenigo: you get what I'm saying

xenigo: my point is that it's confusing when you refer to musicians by their first name
ExGirlfriend: well it's a lot easier then me typing out his full name, plus I usually refer to him as marc
xenigo: okay, it may be hard to type but I still think you could be referring to anyone with that first name...

xenigo: cool, you know I'm not really a fan... so I don't really instantly know who you're referring to with the first name references

Yes, very annoying. Also don't like it when rubes use acronyms or abbreviations that aren't warranted. Can't think of any examples at the moments, but I had a buddy tell me once "Dude, I've got to go post on giff." I was like "Wtf is giff?" and he goes...

"It's the GFY board bro."

See? Shit like that is just annoying. Giff. Fucking just say GFY, which is already a damn acronym anyway lol.

If someone I knew started calling musicians by the first names I'd laugh in their face and say "Oh yeah? You and John going to hang at John's house by John's pool? Kicking it with John for a bit?" :)

Yeah, she tries to make it seem as if she's personal friends with these guys on MTV. I've asked her if they refer to HER by her first name? Do they call you "ExGirlfriend"?

I just don't see the point in trying to make people think you're on a first name basis with a high dollar pop musician. I think it makes her feel more special, or some wack-ass shit like that.
