Anybody ever been arrested for public intoxication in US?

2 days ago after having just two fucking beers I was thrown in for 6 hours after I got a little rowdy during amateur sporting event. Nothing serious, just making fun of ref. No fights, no rude comments.. just taunting him. Some fat ass bitch called cops and told them bunch of BS how she was scared for her safety.
How do I fight that shit in court? Cops didn?t even bother to read my rights and just threw me in the car and took me to jail? just pisses me off.

Spunky 06-08-2005 09:37 PM

Yep ..I was 20 at the time and was caught pissing on a bowling alley and public intoxication..gave some huge fine and escorted me back to the border(Canada)

beemk 06-08-2005 09:38 PM

didnt read you your rights? get a good lawyer you should have no problem getting off of that. did they give you a breathalizer or a field test to see if you were drunk?

seems like you must have left part of the story out.

Gave me a promise to appear..and it turned into a huge fine after I didn't bother

UtahSaints 06-08-2005 09:41 PM

well, it?s not about the fine.. (it was 300 bucks?) but one thing if I was shit faced, but I had two damned beers.. that?s all. Cop was giving me some cheesy flash light test and I passed it. Then in jail they asked me to reside my Drivers license, SS number.. I even offered them to take breathalyzer test.. fuck, they say that I wasn?t booked for DUI so no more tests for me? bunch of power hungry shitheads?

no dude, nothing. Took me outside ice rink and did flash light test ?follow this light? and that?s it. I thought they?ll just let me go, but next thing I know ?Put your hands behind your back??? this is why I?m pissed.. I?ve been waster 100 times more and never ever been escorted this way?

They didn't read you your rights because they didn't have to. You didn't get arrested. More "detained".

sonofsam 06-08-2005 10:05 PM

hold on i did some research and found some other people you can sue...

Act II popcorn - for supplying the event with popcorn
Coca Cola - for being an official sponsor of the event
Budweiser - for sponsoring beer at that event
JFK Airport Control tower - for controlling the air zone on top of the field
Goodyear - for having a blimp above the stadium
Nasa - Because they make rockets and shit
Mcdonalds - beause according to Supersize-me they make people fat (whoda thunk it)
Samsung cellphones - for having bad reception

anyone else?

You wont be charged, No fines I dont think, If you didnt give the cops to much hassle they just release you can tell you to think next time.. If it was public area they had every right, It's just for the safety of kids and other people because some people get mean with alcohol so i wouldnt feel to bad, Who cares a night in the drunk tank pfft.

well, I had to pay $300 to get out after six hours of fun.. ?Bond? I guess?
Iknow I won?t be charged and don?t even need to go to court.. I guess my fine took care of that?

Should of just rided it out, I'm not sure what the hold time is where you are..

sonofsam 06-08-2005 10:21 PM

maybe the police officer had a voyeur fetish, and though that you were cute.. so he wanted to arrest you and watch you from the camera in your cell?

Eeeek! Unknown what the laws and fines are these days, but after just two beers that seems pretty extreme.

In my younger, wilder days (about 20-years ago), me and some friends got popped for public intox. It was after a fun-filled night of illegal street racing (the hot rods WERE parked and we had designated drivers!!!). We had won a ton of cash from racing that night (while SOBER!) and as such were drinking heavily afterwards in a public park. The cops were VERY cool considering how totally ripped that we were. The designated drivers were allowed to leave and post our fines that night for us. I think it was only about a $75 fine, and we had to "sleep it off" at the local city jail till 10am the next morning before release. Hell, we even got coffee and donuts from the police before we were released. No court, just the small fine back in those days. Those were the good old daze. :winkwink:
