Steroids, are they becoming more accepted in society?

For quite a while the media has been focusing attention on steroids. You hear stories about 300,000 highschool students doing steroids in 2004, and girls as young as 9 taking steroids, and like everything we become habituated, and it all becomes second nature. There are even sites popping up on the net like http://www.steroidking.com and http://www.united-pharmacy.com/ selling this shit to the public.

I honestly dont care if someone does steroids, cause it's their own body, and it's better than them smoking. I saw an episode of Conan with Chris Rock, and Chris Rock said something like, "If there was a pill that you could take where you would be better at your job, wouldn't you take it?". This is very true, pornstars in the adult industry pop viagra like it's pez, lawyers and doctors ingest lots of caffeine in order to stay awake, so what is wrong with athletes taking steroids to get better?

What are your thoughts?

vogueboy 06-08-2005 12:10 PM

The absurd rate of liver failure and heart attacks in VERY young people maybe?

BlueWire 06-08-2005 12:12 PM

I'd say we're getting closer and closer to MUCH harsher crack downs on them. :2 cents:

taibo 06-08-2005 12:19 PM

steroids are so not worth it in the end

I do care actually. Anything people do affects society as a whole, and this is no exception. It's ridiculous behavior resulting from god-may-know-what.

Matt 26z 06-08-2005 12:25 PM

I don't see a problem with steroid use (not abuse, use) for those who think they need it. From what I understand all they do is increase your testosterone levels. So what's wrong with a 40 year old man taking just enough to increase his testosterone level to where it was when he was 21 and not going over that?

But still would you rather live a hell of an awesome life till age 40 and then die. Or would you rather live till 70 but from 40 to 70 you get more pains throughout your body, dieing a painful and slow death?

Congress did that just to be shown on the media. Nothing has resulted out of it.

SmokeyTheBear 06-08-2005 12:27 PM

Cows have been eating them for years

I honestly care more about how much obese people will affect our society. Especially in Canada since they have free health care. Imagine in the future, 50% of Canada's population being obese, consuming pain killers for back and ankle pain. Obese people are more likely to go to the doctor's than a "healthy" juicer.

I'm going to break the world record for age. For at one day I want to know that everyone born before me is DEAD.

Right I'm part of society you think I have respect for Mark McGuire or Giambi? Did you not read how may sponsors Giambi has lost from his steriod use? if you think parents are going "Yeah shoot my kid up" you are nuts.

s9ann0 06-08-2005 12:32 PM

I took DHEA (not a steroid but possibly similar) for a while it made me well moody - I won't even take creatine anymore just vitamins and protein powder

I mean whats the point in looking unnaturally big anyways ?

i've done a few cycles. never had one side-effect. no pimples, no rage, nothing. like any artificial substance you may put in your body, it can be incredibly harmful if abused. taken in moderation you can see fantastic results with no ill-effects.

Your testicles didnt shrink, you didnt lose any hair, and you didn't get "bitch" tits?

Your testicles do shrink, but it's temporary - With proper PCT (post cycle therapy) they will return back to normal.

Hairloss- Some people get it, some do not. Depends if you have a history of male pattern baldness in your family. With proper medication while on a cycle Propecia, Finaseride ect.. it should decrease hairloss.

Bitch Tits -Again, with proper medication during your cycle (Nolvadex) you will avoid the sagging man titties.

There is a lot more to a cycle than just injecting, there is a shitload of other things you have to take to do it the right way and avoid the side effects.

The people who jump right into it and playing doctor without doing enough research will be the ones who get hurt.

I had a guy I was speaking with say this same exact thing today to me. Kind of makes you think of it differently.

Creatine is not a steroid or anything like it. All Creatine does is cause your muscles to retain water.

The size increases you see in the initial 2 weeks on Creatine are just your muscles becoming bloated with water. Before I took it my bicep was rock solid. After awhile of Creatine it was somewhat spongy when flexed. So it's just water in there, not solid muscle mass being added.

no, no and no. those things happen to people that stack and don't take breaks in between cycles. there are bodybuilders who literally never go off. you do that and you're asking for very serious medical problems. if you take certain precautions and approach the situation from a learned perspective there is very little danger involved.

vogueboy 06-08-2005 01:16 PM

For God's sake I can hardly believe some posts here (sorry for the raging moment)
It's like (actually worse) than smoking, there are NO safe levels for use, you can have a heart attack at 18 with one cycle or ten cycles or never have one.

Did u know Arnold Schwarzenegger had half his liver removed after he won Mr Olympia? (Or Mr Universe one of these two). Yeah, steroids gave him liver cancer.

any side effect of any steroid you take (testosterone is also a common steroid) is temporary.

if you were to inject testosterone to boost your own levels, you would definately walk around with an erection as long as you were doing it. while you were busy enjoying this, your body would be shutting down its own test production to rebalance test levels in your body. when you stop injecting test, your test levels will crash completely and your body will take a long time to get its own natural production up to previous levels (depending on the dosage and duration of your injections)

there are also side effects as with any drug that alters your body chemistry and hormonal balances. you can have a hard on all the time which is fun and also grow tits, have unsightly acne/oily skin, water retention, small nuts etc. etc.

axelcat 06-08-2005 01:24 PM

Its getting very common in MLB

Bullshit. Doctors prescribe steroids for use all the time. If that was unsafe, the FDA would have banned them entirely. Including for use by accident victims trying to rebuild muscle.

As humans age we often take all sorts of supplements to make up for various deficiencies in our bodies. Why not a minimal amount of steroids to make up for testosterone deficiencies?

That's a term you will NEVER hear in the media... "testosterone deficiency." Because the only cure is controlled use of steroids.

Pleasurepays 06-08-2005 01:29 PM

i shouldn't say any side effect is temporary. lasting side effects come from major and prolonged abuse of powerful steroids (liver damage, hair loss etc etc).

steroids are used all day long, all over the world and prescribed by doctors for a wide range of medical reasons safely. real problems and dangers come from abuse.

hova 06-08-2005 01:29 PM

It's common here

BukkakeBrown 06-08-2005 01:30 PM

much harsher crackdowns on them comin soon...

Theo 06-08-2005 01:56 PM

if you order steroids over the net you'll receive fakes ones. The majority of steroids sold in black market are fake.

Where do you recommend one buy them?

xNetworx 06-08-2005 02:04 PM

Steroid "use" is much less risky and not the same as steroid "abuse"... thats all I have to say.

its just the name that has a stigma with everyone thats not educated enough about them

how many of you fuckers are on daily shit for add, sleep disorders, cholesterol, etc

drugs are drugs, everything has side effects... steroids can be done correctly and with minimal side effects. The key here is educating yourself on them before you jump right in.

online steroids are fake? bs, some are but the same goes for in person... you just have to have a legit source :)

Steroids are totally accepted nowadays.
A friend of mine grew himself a nice pair of titties using estrogen. All his colleagues, friends and family have been very supportive and understanding he told me.

I dont recommend people to buy steroids, but if you plan to buy them you'll better make sure you don't use something you do not know what it is. Fake steroids can be from risky to fatal. There are small home kits you can use to test if a steroid is original or not. I guess getting a connection with a drug store or a doctor could be a way.
