Care order for cooker baby killer

A woman who killed her three-week-old baby by burning him on a cooker top has been sentenced to round-the-clock supervision in a care home.

Cheryl Green, 40, of Peckham, south London, was made the subject of a "guardianship order" at the Old Bailey.

Green admitted manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.

It is understood that her son Mickle, who was born prematurely, was found burning on a cooker on 22 April last year. He suffered 90% burns and died.

She's a sick woman...it's unfortunate nothing was done about it till now. I'm sure there had to be some signs that this woman was nuts.

I'm guessing that they're saying this is a result of PPD?

As a parent I can say there are times my kids drive me up the wall but never would I even begin to think about doing anything that would hurt them.

The bit I heard about her on the radio was that she had a long term history of mental illness and that she said that voices told her to put her baby on the fire.

That's very disturbing indeed....

That is so sad.
I can not even imagine doing something like to a baby or anyone else for that matter.
It sucks there so many sick people on earth, and there is nothing being done about it.

Oh my!! Poor baby - RIP.
Did the hospital not know this woman had a history of mental illness before letting her go home? Was she alone or did she have family - there must have surely been some signs that she wasn't going to be able to care for the child....

The baby comes in fighting for his life being premature and this is what happens to him. Poor child :(
