Speaking of rap, anyone into UK rap?

One of my buddies is about to drop a cd that has a lot of collaborative stuff with American and UK rappers. It was a bit of a shock for me at first, the accent is so different, but now I'm liking it a lot.

I have a hard enough time understanding the british accent when they talk, let alone rap

Only British rap song I like is The Streets - Fit But You Know it
But that is mainly because the video is funny (check it out at launch.com:upsidedow) http://music.yahoo.com/ar-296908-videos--The-Streets

Haha, that was funny, thanks for the link.
My friend has a few eps out, raps by the name Doyen D. I've heard two tracks on the upcoming cd and I am really looking forward to it coming out. :)

Dizzy Rascal is pretty good, not sure if he's UK based though, I just know he's not North American.

TDF 06-07-2005 11:46 PM

dizzy is cool...tricky,roots manuva and skinny man got skillz

Basher 06-07-2005 11:51 PM

you want "goldie looking chain" :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Apache_A 06-07-2005 11:53 PM

Roots Manuva is the king (all though he doesn't like being called UK Rap)
Aspects are pretty awsome
Dj Format is good (but he a DJ and mostly uses two Candian Rappers)
Blades last albumn was pretty good
Rodney P, Phi Life Cipher, Skinny Man sll get good 'props' but I personaly am not a big fan.

UK Rap is moving forward now because most of the artists are defining their own sounds and not trying to be US clones, The Streets and Dizzy Rascal are two great examples this.

If you're looking for a laugh though try and find anyhting by MC Pitman or 'The Goldie Looking Chain'
