ever considered partnering with someone?

I partnered with someone for a new project unrelated to adult. New business licenses, bank accounts, domain names, merchant accounts... the whole nine yards.

It's a good feeling having a team effort with someone that actually knows what they're doing, and lives only a couple miles away. So I can walk through his door and beat him over the head.

:)

So do you think having a partnership is a good thing?

Everyone of my partnerships have been great.

Dalai lama 06-07-2005 02:43 PM

Sometimes it went great, other times it sucked.

MandyBlake 06-07-2005 02:43 PM

it can be a very good thing if you know them well.

Not only have I considered it but I'm in some discussions about a deal at the moment.

It really depends on the person.

Machete_ 06-07-2005 03:06 PM

do it all the time

Violetta 06-07-2005 03:07 PM

I have had nothing but grief with partnerships. I have a simple rule now. Make shit, make money and fuck everyone else. I've tried partnerships with adult webmasters as well as personal friends trying to get into the business. They learned a lot from me and the only thing I learned is it isn't worth it.

I've had good partnerships and bad ones...the most important thing is making sure you're partner doesn't have the same weaknesses as you do or they get magnified...

chowda 06-07-2005 03:41 PM

found only 1-2 ppl that i trust..

would partner up if i could.

Gottis 06-07-2005 03:44 PM

I just partner with the same dude all the time, on different businesses. It takes too much time and energy running several businesses, each with a different person/company.

xxxice 06-07-2005 03:50 PM

It depends what the partnership is like.

betsy 06-07-2005 03:51 PM

i partner with my man, he writes the code for our sites, and i handle the PR/marketing. all in all, it works out pretty well, and all the money we make stays in house.

abadfish 06-07-2005 03:54 PM

I've never found a partnership that works... the trick is finding someone that's at least as motivated as you... It doesn't feel good to be doing 90% of the work for 50% of the pay.

studio 06-07-2005 03:56 PM

a partnership is like a marrage... Can be really good, or it can be a living hell...

Only have a partner if you really need one...during the slumps, do you really want to cut your income in half? Vise versa when your making bank. Sometimes, employees are better than partners.

I agree that employees are better in most cases. But this guy has proven he's worth his weight in gold. He's brought his parents business to $30,000 a month online, and he's only getting an hourly wage at the moment. He knows how to make it happen. They already had the inventory, but they had no online presence.

It would be impossible to hire someone as an employee that would make that kind of contribution.

Hell ya, good for you! That fucker would be a great partner. Good luck!
