What's the normal fee that an entertainer would pay an "agent"?

This lawyer who wants to shop my talk show is proposing ten percent of the gross of any deals made with him or his contacts...Is that too much?

Barefootsies 06-07-2005 09:12 AM

I believe, and I could be wrong, but normal "agent fee" is somewhere between 15-20%.

PurrrsianPussyKat 06-07-2005 09:43 AM

10% sounds fair to me.

tony286 06-07-2005 09:43 AM

My cousins are all news anchors and they pay 10-15% It's pretty interesting - they get little coupon books with the amount due on them they pay every month :)

He's an entertainment lawyer who graduated from my Alma Mater's law school.

Platinum Lantern 06-07-2005 10:43 AM

10% is standard

MandyBlake 06-07-2005 10:51 AM

10-15% is avg i think

cool1g 06-07-2005 11:00 AM

in California, its 10% maximum by law....can be higher in other states....that's why a lot of big talent agents become managers out here - there is no maximum % for managers.
