Sometimes I think affiliates don't get it...

No offense to my affiliates, this isn't a hater thread. This is an "open your eyes and see the big picture" thread. Constructive criticism.

Sometimes I think affiliates don't get it when I get hit up asking for more content. And then they ask if they can log into the members area to download the stuff. There's a reason I'm NOT giving certain things away. Do people realize that you've gotta have something to SELL? You can't just GIVE everything away, guys.

It just doesn't work like that. Surfers need to be teased. They're drawn in by the unknown. If they see something they think they want to see more of, they BUY. If they already see what gets them off, they DON'T buy.

I give away some content, but I'm not giving away the farm. Basically my galleries are NN for the most part, and I'll give away a SINGLE cock picture at the very end, un-erect. They've gotta PAY to see more.

Simple concept really.

No they dont' get it. Been a few arguments with the TGP crowd on here this week alone. "I can't sell without 20 free big pics" whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Roald 06-06-2005 01:59 PM

You mean we can't get everything for free????

Odie 06-06-2005 02:00 PM

this could get interesting...:)

blame the link list and tgp owners. they demand content that is not only good quality in terms of size and resolution but if you post sponsor content then your chances of getting listed are even less. some ppl say buy content but what good is that when the content you buy, what the surfer wants to see more of will not be in the paysite. when i used to do galleries i often got rejected for using sponsor content, pics being too small and not showing enough nudity.

We all need to start adopting this. Unfortunately, few probably will.

I've been having similar conversations with affiliates all day...
while I do issue a small numbner of passwords for some trsuted affiliates to grab their own content, with the new 2257 regs, I'll be giving out less, if any at all...

While I understand the need for fresh content, I can't let our entire member's area get exposed to everyone for free.

Maybe as a revshare program, we should deduct photo/videoshoot expenses? Maybe start it at 60% and knock off 10% for a content fee (for those issued passwords)? Bah, I'm just thinking out loud here....

Good point.

And THAT is the affiliate's strength, that is why they can make such great money. Because they understand what it takes to tease their traffic, they build their galleries from this knowledge, give them a taste of what there is and then the surfers click through and buy and gets even more, the sponsor has another signup, the affiliate has more commission, everyone's happy!

:thumbsup

I agree with you..
but if you dont have lots of free content.. share some more for your good affi. ;)

SykkBoy 06-06-2005 02:20 PM

Affiliates should also learn how to drive traffic through other means than just TGP posting...requires less content, bandwidth and resources....hell, I'm learning some SEO myself lately and have always tried different areas of traffic generation...

Sly 06-06-2005 02:21 PM

I actually disagree. Most will agree with you, but I don't. The more content available for promotional purposes, the better. That means more traffic for you. I do not believe that a surfer is willing to scrounge the Internet in order to find more of your content. Instead, they will join the site to get access to everything.

Maybe its you that don't understand. Exposure is GOOD. There are several companies that agree with my philosophy and have absolutely no problem giving affiliates ANY content they are able to give away. In fact, the webmaster section of one particular sponsor I have in mind hands out the full video. Bam! That simple. Coincidentally, this particular sponsor happens to be one of the biggest, if not THE biggest sponsor out there. I wonder why? It sure isn't due to content quality, I'll tell you that much...

Well that CAN be an affiliates strength, but often times it's not. They think more content = more sales. But that applies to the formula for retention, not initial conversions.

well said bud

If all an affiliate does is submit FHGs to TGPs or use free content to buid galleries to submit.. then they are easily replaced by cheap foreign labour.
