it's all down to the photosynthesis.. plants consume carbon dioxide and sunlight and produce oxygen, so rooms with plants tend to have better oxygen concentration.

I believe there are plants that require less sunlight/light than other plants.. best idea would be to go to a nursery and tell them about your space.. most of those green thumbers just LOVE to talk about plants and be asked for their advice/opinion :winkwink:
