How did it happen when .info , .biz etc' were introduced?

I don't believe that with the new .xxx they will give .com or .net owners priority, and I believe it will all be similar to how new TLDs were introduced in the past.

I knew nothing when .info and .biz went live, so can someone explain how it all happened?

were there pre-orders? auctions for the premium domains?

I believe it will eventually end up at the biggest players grabbing the best domains...

in your opinion, will it be possible for someone to REGISTER valuable domains for just the reg fee? obviously, to make profit out of this, one would have to do something above the rest, but anyway...

.info had a 2 phase period = "sunrise" and "landurush" ( correct me if i am wrong )

don't remember the exact details, fact is, that during the sunrise period trademark holders had the right to submit their applications for the particular .info names, and then - if there were no trademark owners, it was basically a lottery between everyone who submitted applications during landrush ( some registrars were making an auction for that, it was quite complicated )

anyway, the sunrise period sucked, since it was AUTOMATED, so ppl submitted bogus trademark claims and some of them were actually pretty funny, like people claiming to having a trademark in south africa for "bigcocks" and then putting as their company "george bush, white house etc" ( or was it still Bill Clinton back then"? )

anyway, i complained to Affilias ( the .info registry ) and ICANN but obviously noone cared

the good thing is that i didnt have a chance to get all the good mainstream names that i wanted, like impotence.info, casino.info, music.info, so i ended up with 2 shitty adult names, noone wanted to buy them, so i started reading about the adult biz and here i am :)
