I need a new laptop that can handle video editing (input please?)
I need something I can take on the road and still be able to handle some serious video editing and rendering. What do you recommend?
|
Mac all the way
Get your flavor of powerbook or even Ibook. You WILL be satisfied!
|
My HP zd7020 kicks ass - firewire ports and all!!!! :thumbsup

IBM T42, i use have avid pro on it and use it to edit when im not in the office
|
it should have firewire, a large screen and a big HD. or even better: an external firewire HD. and of course: the more power the better, but that means also more noise
|
|
12" Powerbook G4 is the best solution.
|
Mac only!
Last models of Powerbook 15" or 17" with ram upgrade! I am using ibook. Forget about others! :thumbsup |

blah, blah, blah.... what happens when i piss on a mac - will some fanatic mac owners come and burn down my house? |
Video Editing + Laptop = Powerbook
|
Hey DWB sorry I missed ya in OH but you may see me there again soon
the HP looks pretty sweet to me, I don't like the MAC soultion because of price and you are pretty well tied to final cut pro a rather expensive solution. |

17" Powerbook... Loaded to FCP & Motion.
And go ahead, piss on a Mac, it will get the last laugh with it shocks yours nutsack off. Only a PC user would be stupid enough to piss on something electronic... :1orglaugh |

I have a Dell XPS laptop for mobile editing...
17" widescreen 256 meg pciXpress video 80gig 7200rpm 1gig ram dvd +/- great sound w/subwoofer Really nice for editing... I run Vegas5.0d |
I'm sorry if your after something for video editing get a DELL XPS. 3.4 ghz, 2 gig ram, 100 gig 72rpm harddrive, 800FSB SUPER QUICK.
I have one and its faster than any desktop i've ever seen. Leave the macs to the professionals who only use 1-2 apps, use PC for everything web |
By the way, how much would it cost?

:thumbsup I got one and it kicks ass. Not sure if its the same model but one of the new top ones |
I edit on my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. It's fast enough for video editing and encoding - you may want to check the newer Dell laptops.
|
I can't find the zd7020... only the zd8000. One can only assume the 8000 is the new improved model. lol
|
I just got a new Toshiba Ultralight and I've been editing video on it off and on since I received it yesterday morning. No problems at all........I was a little concerned because of the specs but it works great including rendering.
2ghz M Proc. 2 gigs of ram and under 5 pounds. Perfect for travel. :2 cents: |
