Camera questions..
I've been debating what I want to buy.. The Cannon XT.. The 20D.. the 10D.. a Nikon D70..
Money isn't really the issue, but I'm still thinking the 20D is more than a novice needs to learn on. So I was checking out Ebay and noticed I can pick up 10D's at very reasonable prices.. roughly half the price of the 20D body only. I also notice that there are quite a few package deals on the Nikon D70, take this one for example.. link I basically want something that's easy for me to pick up and start shooting with, yet still allow me grow with it. So I know the whole Canon/Nikon thing is a personal opinion decision, but being this will be my first SLR I'm open for either direction. Can anyone that's used both give me some pros and cons? I think I'm going to pick up either a D70 or a 10D from ebay, so I need some tips on which is more user friendly. |
20d and you can grow into it

you have any recommendations on a good lens or two.. say one for studio shoots and then a general outdoor lens?

Canon 20D - easy to learn just read the manual once or twice.
Canon 28-135mm - Ultrasonice / Image Stabilizer |
20d and couple L lens makes you happy. much more than with d70.

if you don't have lenses yet i would go with canon.
otherwise it depends on your lens inventory. i would switch to 100% canon right now if i didn't have all nikon glass. canon color is better IMO. |
I would go with the 20d...

I'd go nikon, Dollar for dollar they still have the better camera in my opinion.

we have the 20d and its great!

Buy Canon!
Go with a used clean 10D.
I have never owned a 10D but I have put well over 1 million images on Canon EOS digital cameras in the last five years and they last the Best. We currently have at the studio the following: 2 - Canon D30's (250,000+ exp on one and about 175,000 on the other) 2 - Canon D60's (over 200,000 exposures on each) 2 - Canon D20's (Over 250,000 exposures on one and nearly 200,000 on the other) 2 - Canon EOS1Ds (Over 100,000 on one and about 40,000 on the second) We buy ALL cameras in pairs for safety and consistency in images while we are using that model. All have had the crap beaten out of them over the years. We have only had 1 - D30 and 1 - D60 fail. Both had over 250,000 exposures on the shutters and CCD at time of failure. These cameras get dropped, wet, stepped on, electrocuted and they refuse to die. We killed 2 Nikons in under a year. Neither made it to 100,000 exposures before death occurred. |
