Sony F828
Who's got one?
I recently have been given one to play with.... Do you have an external flash to use with it? Which one? How do you like using the external flash with the Sony F828 for "amateur type" photos. (I know the built in flash is sorta sucky for most use) The camera works well with my studio strobes but I need a more portable solution. BTW Wireless sync is awesome with studio strobes. Just got one recently and it's way cool. onward |
I've got one and use it with the bult-in flash, which does kinda suck, but the external sony flash sucks just as bad.
It's a great camera, colors are awesome. |
I use the sony hvl-f32x flash. And the lumiquest pro max system which is a combination bounce/softbox type. Works pretty good. :thumbsup

Hey Gunner.... dumb question, and I think I sorta know my answer .... Snap a photo of one of my cats with the built in flash.. Looks awesome in the image replay on the F828 screen Life seems good Open up same image in Photoshop whoa way way dark play with levels a bit and i'm a-ok again What gives??? My PC monitor can't be that wacked out. Sites and content look fine. Photoshop seems to be a-ok I know I shouldn't rely on the F828's screen as the end all sign of success, but I'd think the two would match up a bit closer when I look at an image either way, or whats the point of viewing what's just been shot with the F828 ? Me and something I'm doing?? or thats just the way it is..... thanks again. |
i got an f828, it takes wonderful pics out of the box. also have a HVL-1000 flash. really good external flash IMO, about $120. Lasts for about 500 shots , 4 AA batteries.
post a pic of your bad pic and then we can see what your doing wrong. maybe its just a bad device? |
this thread is pointless without pics

quick photoshop combo Top is what opens up in photoshop with no modifications Bottom is a representation of what I see in the F828 LCD screen if I look at what I just shot http://www.escortblogs.net/nicki.jpg |

the histogram is ok, but ultimately what I do is, snap 1/2 dozen test pics, run over to the laptop and view them... it's probably the amateur way to make sure the lighting is good, but it works every time. if you don't have the availability, or if you're out in the field, just remember the LCD is always brighter than what the real output will be. |

yes my lcd is always a little brighter than the picture it takes, but not by that much.
i think the viewfinder is a little more accurate. i really wish they had one of those superhuge lcd's on the back of the cam. that would be really nice. |
yeah its sorta weird, almost like most everything is a full stop underexposed.
Got a friend bringing his Minolta meters over so we can compare his handheld meter to mine and do some still subject tests etc. I try to see what an image looks like before proceeding, but it would be nice to know its all relatively close beforehand. I just remember in all the shoots that produced the boxes and boxes and boxes of slides in the late 90s I never had an issue or a real worry like these days. Set up strobes, meter, shoot until I ran out of film. never second guessed things. will play some more with it though .... thanks meow |
We use the F-828.
We use the HVL-1000 flash for indoor stuff, and the HVL-F32X for outdoor shooting. |
I just bought one for the Burst Mode...
Need to be able to catch the flying cum shots :winkwink: An awesome camera so far! |
I got an F828. Absolutely love it. Heres a pic I took recently with it in Vegas.
