If you had the chance to find out when and how you're going to die, would you want to know?

Considering how much time I spend behind the computer each year, I'm willing to bet this is where I'll probably end up cashing it in.....

But if you could know for sure, the time, place, how it would happen, etc., would you want to know?

Yes, I would. It'd be interesting to know exactly how valuable my time left really is.

Nope. It's too easy to piss me off and bum me out as it is, knowing it would put me in a lifetime of misery thinking "X days before I die" and so on.

why don't we allow that an "intuition" (for lack of a better word) may already exist in us -- one that is not quite a sense (in the eyes, ears, nose tongue and skin sense), but that -- nevertheless -- affords us knowledge that could not be otherwise obtained -- some people call that FAITH -- and it doesn't have to have anything to do with the angel gabriel or everlasting anything -- faith, in my book, is simply a posture of listening -- which one assumes without any expectation that there will be a sound -- consider: this is the ANTITHESIS of personal knowledge (any knowledge acquired by oneself, by way of one's own senses) -- what i'm saying is -- maybe i already know when i'm going to die (actually, it seems ridiculous that i wouldn't know) -- but the manner of knowing is different than the manner in which i know that i am wearing jeans right now -- you follah -- ? -- :)

Yes I sure would, cause this thought is stupid and absurd

example:
Premis:
I now no that I will die at the age of 60 caused by a float or whatever.

Now I can start live as stupid as I God damn want, smoke crack everyday while running around on the biggest freeway trying to catch the cars coming at me with 120mph
I would jump off a 100 meter high clip without safety.

What I'm getting at is that this thought is absurd and without any sense because even if you were to see into the future you would also have to agree on the following: you have no free will because everything is predifined for all of us.

Now this would result in that asking yourself: would I like to know (thread start)? would be out any sense because your life is already defined and you would say yes if it was part of the "big plan" and no if that was part of the "big plan".

This is some wierd shit to think of but it's not so bad cope with once you realize why free will cannot exist if a predifened destinny exists which is has to in order to tell you when you die.

Wouldn't that be funny?

Someone reveals to you the precise time and method of your death, so you are certain that you will survive jumping off a building (because you are not supposed to die for many years).

Then, just before you hit the ground . . . you realize that you forgot to ask for some "credentials" from the person who told you the precise time and method of your death.

For a split second you "pray" that the person was actually qualified, but it turns out that it was just a "crazy" street person who doesn't know anything about anything, so you hit the ground and die.

Very sad . . . and kind of funny.
