What Language Is Your Money In?

With the internet growing by leaps and bounds every day and new international markets opening for ecommerce, simply translating your paysite into other languages is not going to do the trick! There are three very important steps that need to be taken in order to be successful in entering the online international marketplace with your site.

1. Local Dialect:
You must have your sites translated by a local from the country the language is in. There will be many terms and way of saying things that is only known to locals (slang)! If you have a non-native speaker translating, it will not be in common tongue, but rather text book style.

2. Billing:
Now that your site is translated, you must have a way to bill your international user. Without being able to bill them, your translations are not going to increase your productivity. In the not too distant past, dialers were a feasible and profitable way of billing international users. In 2005, the dialer has been outlawed and or severely regulated in places like Spain & Switzerland. In places such as Germany, where there is around a 25% Credit Card penetration, SEXMoney.com sees the primary method of payment as Direct Debit. There are definitely alternative forms of payment that can be used such as Reverse SMS billing, Web call, CC's, just depends upon the country or origin.

3. Content:
What some countries may like, others may loathe. In other words, not every one likes blonde hair blue eyes. You must keep your content preferences geared towards the countries' preferences. In addition, your Members Area should not only have this specific content, but the wording in it should also be in the native language of the user. If the user can not understand the language of your Members Area, they can not make up-sell purchases ?and we all know that up-sells generate a large amount of income!

Setting up the above steps is a big project and takes a great deal of time to do it correctly! If done correctly though, you will reap the benefits!

Hope this gives some helpful info!

Post of the week .....
Every time we launch a new site, we always debate and think for a few days, if it should be Danish(no competition) or English (more customers).. usually end up with danish

Great post Chipmunk! I'm still fairly new with SEXMoney.com, but I understand that we have been geo-targeting and monetizing international traffic for quite a long time, way before it was "fashionable". :pimp
