Some adult webmasters blow my mind.

Yeah, I use b0ardtrack0r, so I can monitor what is happening elsewhere . . . just in case something is being discussed that I have a vested interest in.

Lately I have been seeing threads pop up with people expressing surprise that some sponsors are pulling their free content and/or free hosting.

I have to ask, why does this surprise anyone? Shouldn't it have been expected? At least as a temporary fix until they can get things together to comply with the new 2257 regs.

Is anyone here surprised that sponsors might be reluctant to just throw content out there so affiliates can make their own galleries?

Discuss.

If the affiliate is a non U.S. citizen there should not be a big problem ... a 2257 page listing all the content providers is all they need.

So you think sponsors are going to use GEO-IP to decide if the affiliate can download content or something?

tradermcduck 06-03-2005 01:53 AM

Nope, download area with user/pass only for approved non U.S. webmasters...

I'd say that most webmasters arent aware of the changs at all, they dont read boards.

ffmihai 06-03-2005 02:59 AM

so if im a non us webmaster, what do i have to do regarding the new 2257 regulations?

Dirty Dane 06-03-2005 03:23 AM

Indeed, I've found that a large portion of people on all these message boards are entirely clueless about even the most basic aspects of the new regulations.... all they know is that they can't survive without getting everything they need, for free.
And so they don't understand why they're being punished.... why they're the ones that will not have a tougher time doing all of the things the way they're used to.... as if this is all personally about them or something.

baddog 06-03-2005 09:29 PM

I guess 2257 could eliminate a huge portion of the webmasters that are here for the free ride

seeric 06-03-2005 09:32 PM

yeah funny huh. survival of the fittest after this. gonna be a much more intelligent environment soon.

Walrus 06-03-2005 09:34 PM

It will be interesting to see what happens, but hasn't there been many scares like this in the past? Or this the biggeset scare of them all?

I think it could happen, could be no more free rides.
Having to buy your own content and provide your own hosting will be too much for some to handle and they will quit.

Spunky 06-03-2005 09:42 PM

I'm sure Canadians with off shore hosting is on their priority list :pimp

Sorry ANY sponsor giving preferential treatment to non-US webmasters will NOT get my business. What if a sponsor didn't let Euro have content because the smell because they don't bathe but once a week?

This is a tired, tired old chestnut. There is no "free ride". The provision of content and hosting has benefits and drawbacks for everyone who is involved. Anyway, by implying otherwise, you are surely raising more questions about the business acumen of the sponsors who provide content and hosting, than you are about the affiliates who take up their offers.

thewebgarage 06-03-2005 11:11 PM

its a lot easier for a sponsor to supply id's especially if its exclusive than it is for an affiliate todo the book keeping on each image and related id.

Are you under the impression that the sponsor doesn't have book keeping to do on each image and url with related id's????

There are programs with anywhere from 200,000 to 2 million photos. I hardly think the affiliate has it harder.

People better get used to the idea that there will be alot of sponsors that are not going to provide free downloadable "explicit" content and Id's for webmasters. US based non US Based doesn't matter, it's not going to happen. Sure there will be some that do, and we'll all see how long that lasts.

The Adult landscape has changed. And truthfully it's our job as webmasters to get our traffic to the sponsor's tour. Not provide free daily jack off material. We are the commercial they are the SHOW. That is how we get paid. And if you don't think you can get traffic to a sponsor with out explicit content. Perhaps as affiliates the industry is better off without you.

Great post Baddog. :thumbsup :thumbsup

I can see this changing the face of the single girl market. We have some girls that frequent here. Just Curiouis is Arika, Sunny, Vanilla, Alley, Aimee Sweet, Elli, and the like all going to be giving us their personal information?
I for one hope not.

Wouldn't they also have to keep track of every TGP their affiliate submitted it to?
