Was napolean Dynamite really that funny?
 

I'm just wondering since a lot of people keeping quoting the dumb movie and I haven't seen it yet.

I thought it was the dumbest movie i've ever seen. I am shocked that people liked it....i'm usually into the stupidest shit...but this was not one of them

Fuck yes, it was too damn funny. Have to watch it again today in fact.

Never seen it, and have not even seen it for rent or sale.

I LOVE that movie. The sets and costumes alone are genius. Hell, the opening credits are brilliant, IMHO.

But it is definitely an easy movie to dislike. It's one that grows on you with repeat viewings, too.

Many parts were funny
it's kind of like office space in that the quotes more so how they say them
like in office space when he says hmm ok yeaahhh

it's got that unique lines to it

I am big on Jim Carey, American Pie, and Adam Sandler movies


hotshots is ok, and naked gun I'm not so into
so I usually don't like too stupid

but I thnk the movie was edited on a mac at home

so considering this was just some guy and very low budget

it has it's funny parts.

Maybe another reason it was funny to me
is we had a kid in our school that looked almost exactly like that

he was one of the smartest kids in the country

yeah, after everyone going nuts on gfy, I figured I had to get it and check it out... 10 minutes in, I was looking at my gf going "uhm... we can turn it off now if you want"

do not compare this movie to office space

office space = classic

worst movie I have ever seen. I gave it about 30 minutes before it was turned off. I really can't imagine anyone liking it if they aren't on meth.

it had its moments but for the most part it was boring

It's so stupid it's funny - first time it is grueling to sit through but the second time is almost entertaining.

I loved the movie. it was great.

It's wasn't really funny to me but some parts definately made me laugh. Stupid funny I guess you could say.

Yup. Little things made it funny.

2. When his brother backs over the plastic bowl w/ his truck

The first 30 minutes my youngest niece couldn't stop laughing.
I think those who either didn't find it funny or don't get it are maybe a bit too uptight.

Uncle Rico chucking Kip's steak was so fucking funny. Then the scene when Napoleon hangs up the phone and Kip and Rico both do the "let's take this to somewhere more private" is hilarious...

yeah, it also helps to have come from a relgious, but not fanatical farm community....if you were born/raised/lived in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nebraska, etc. you KNEW those people...

I loved the Mormon slant on the movie...like how no one outright swore, but they had their own slang that took place of the curse words...and who didn't take their action figures and dangle them out the bus window on the way to school? ;-)

and who could ever hate Kip's song to his Lafawnduh? I even bought the fucking tshirt ;-)

funny parts, all together, really not THAT funny.

It's one of those movies that you either love or hate. I thought it was so funny that I bought the DVD. I have friends, on the other hand, who think it is the stupidest movie in history.
