Dirty F 06-02-2005 02:47 PM

Wait, you actually missed the 50 posts about it on the frontpage?

kernelpanic 06-02-2005 02:48 PM

You don't say?

Rich 06-02-2005 03:06 PM

Why can't parents just learn to be fucking parents and leave us the fuck alone. My kids don't use the fucking internet without supervision, not because of just porn, because of fucking pedophiles lurking in kid chat rooms. Fuck people are fucking stupid, they don't fucking care about fucking pedophiles abducting their fucking kids but they fucking bitch about fucking porn. Religious fuckers, fuck off already.

Dusen 06-02-2005 03:09 PM

I haven't read any other posts but isn't this basically a non-issue? ICANN indicated it wouldn't support it unless the .xxx was voluntary? Mabye I'm behind the times.

KRL 06-02-2005 03:12 PM

Its a lame idea that won't change anything except a zillion lawsuits.

Once it's adopted, certain countries, cough cough America, will make it a crime to put porn on anything besides a .xxx domain. Then, by the time Neil Bush is president 15 years or so down the road, they'll start censoring at the ISP level. Slipper slope, that's the problem.

Hell the US can't stop porn from being put on a .ORG and that's not what it was intended for.

The US also can't make ISPs block porn. If they had that power where in the fuck where they when 976 porn numbers were big? Couldn't they have said that phone companies were not allowed to have such #'s? Too many mainstream companies profits come directly from PORN for the government to stop it. Some mainstream companies would have ANY profits if it weren't for their porn investments.

FilthyRob 06-02-2005 04:34 PM

Stop the madness.

That has worked so far right? I can still get 4 porn channels on my TV and I live in the Bible belt. Hell Cinemax shows soft porn all night long. Fox has Fear Factor where people eat moose penis. MTV shows reality shows with 20somethings fucking each other all the time. Primetime TV has shit on it that would have only been fit for HBO 20 years ago. South Park says PUSSY and other swearwords all the time. No fucking way that's on ANY channels except HBO type channels even 10 years ago. Despite the conservative movement this country gets more liberal sexually every year. Just look back 10, 20, 30 years and so on. They cons can't put the genie back in the bottle no matter how hard they try. The days were mom and dad slept in different beds on TV are over have been and aint coming back EVER.

Thankfully, those religious groups lose power every generation. At least the future will have less to fear from biblethumpers than we do.

mockingbich 06-02-2005 04:56 PM

Ok so .xxx is going to happen, but when?

I heard on the radio it was set for next fall... so do we still have another year to get ready?

But I don't think I should have to pay more to get the censors out of my entertainment. The reason free-to-air TV doesn't have quality mature-themed shows is because of all these conservative christians complaining to the FCC and threatening a boycott everytime they see something they don't like. So you shell out for cable, but that doesn't get you completely free of them. You can't watch a Howard Stern show at 2am without the blurry mosaic. You can't watch unedited Sex In The City reruns. So if you want more, then you have to shell out for premium cable too. And now these letter-writing whiners are costing you $80/month. But that's not all they're costing you. If it weren't for these groups and their You-Cant-Do-That-On-Televison rules, then many more shows could be of the same quality as premium-channel shows like The Sopranos or Deadwood. The only difference is the perception of what you are allowed to do where. Now will I have to pay extra for a premium uncensored ISP?

1st one I've seen make a post on this, that's using his head :thumbsup

Biggy2 06-02-2005 05:15 PM

$60 a year?

Where the fuck is that money going to...

reynold 06-02-2005 08:25 PM

a new .xxx won't matter anyway...

malakajoe 06-02-2005 08:30 PM

So I see you can buy them at New.net. But isn't part of ICANN, yet. So what if I buy a xxx domain from New.net and then ICANN adobts it...does my domain stay or can I lose it because New.net isn't affiliated with ICANN? Or is the company listed in the article New.net owned?

Thanks.
