Holy Shit my county is a fucking theocracy!!

This is the 4th time the local schoolboard has been sued by the ACLU in the last 11 years over prayer in schools. God help me if these local nutjobs find out what I really do for a living. |

I don't know if there's anything that anyone can do about it, either. |
I love this one too....recently our state senator passed away, and they're holding a special election to fill his seat. These candidates are so afraid of the "L" word it's ridiculous.
http://www.nola.com/search/index.ssf...11180.xml?nola Selected copy and paste..... The candidates to succeed the late John Hainkel in the state Senate, at least those with a chance, all sound pretty much alike. They can't stand liberals. If that stance lacks the appeal of novelty, it still works in a district that stretches from New Orleans to the conservative bastions of Old Metairie and St. Tammany and on to the would-be theocracy of Tangipahoa, where the school system has continued its prayerful ways in defiance of a federal court order. ............ LaBruzzo, whose House district not so long ago was represented by the Invisible Empire's own David Duke, is appropriately rock-ribbed and promises to take on the bogeymen "liberals in the State Senate" and fight for the standard conservative causes................ Capella is way out on the right too and is "sick and tired of the ACLU and liberal judges." He wants tougher sentences for criminals, although Louisiana's incarceration rates do not suggest that a criminal justice system is exactly namby pamby. Perhaps Capella has forgotten that, when it comes to locking people up, we are tops............ The fourth, Una Anderson, is a Democrat and a member of the Orleans Parish School Board. Those are two very difficult obstacles for Anderson to overcome. She, however, is at pains to emphasize that she is for guns and against taxes and abortion, so nobody should stick the dreaded "liberal" label on her. Welcome to 1850.....errrrr......my county. (Here we call them parishes though) |

You would really have gone nuts growing up in the UK. Every morning we would have an assembly and would recite prayers and sing hymns. ...and that was just a regular school
|
christianity would be a pretty cool religion if it weren't for all of the Christians...
|
religion scares me
|
Admittedly this is from 2003...but it is also pretty fucked up.
http://www.legis.state.la.us/leg_doc...T/0000K4Q7.PDF Louisiana Creationist Bill Update House Concurrent Resolution 50 in Louisiana contains the Santorum amendment language verbatim. This resolution, which encourages school systems not to buy textbooks which teach only evolution, will be used within the state as Intelligent Design (ID) proponents are using the Santorum amendment around the country. If it passes, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will have to distribute the resolution to all 66 school systems in the state. That will lay a foundation for the next move by creationists, who failed to obtain an evolution disclaimer in textbooks last year. |
religion dont belong in school
