Question for you car buffs....
I just got a call from one of are local harley davidson dealers that i won a raffle i bought some tickets for a few weeks ago. They told me i have won a 383 stroker engine dyno tested at 560. Now i have a few questions.
1: Is this engine street legal? 2: What does dyno tested at 560 mean 3: Whats a ball park figure price of a engine like this? Thanks for all the replys :thumbsup |
nothin it sucks, give it to me. You dont want it :winkwink:
:1orglaugh |
i assume its a chev 350 stroked to 383 cubic inches.
the horsepower could be 560 price, i dont know street legal? could be..what state are you in |

I am down here in florida.... |
Street legal really depends on state laws and whats been done to the engine. Dyno tested at 560 means they put the car on a dyno machine and the engine came out at pushing 560horsepower. No idea on price. Honestly depends on whats done to it.
|
Yes its street legal! The engine is a chevy 350 stroked to a 383 typically the 560 would mean how many foot lbs of torque it has as stroker motors are typically nicknamed torque machines. Engine is valued at a few thousand depending on what piston rods/ pistons etc they used. Bad ass small block engine
|
560 hp is a nice kick in the ass for the street and that would be real horsepower, not nitrous etc.. i dont think street legal would be a problem, but you may have emission laws there, im not sure..
|
Thanks for the reply guys. Im gonna get dressed and go down there and look at this. You guys getin me all pumped up now :1orglaugh
Shemp, florida did a away with the emission laws a about 5 years ago here. But like i said guys thanks for the replys. Soon as i get it home i will snap some pics and post them for you all to see :thumbsup |
I think you are the proud owner of a bowtie motor (CHEVY)
350 small block.. stroker crank... 383 cu in 560 on dyno.. means the motor made 560hp on dynomometer If made with quality High Performance Parts the engine is probably worth more than $5,000.00 and less than 12,500.00 Big B CECash.com |
383's are dime a dozen, nothing more than a 350 block with a 400 crank. The money is in the heads. 3-5k tops assuming its a complete longblock, carb to oil pan :2 cents:

2. 560HP or torque, either way its a hell of a lot for a small block. 3. I think 400HP 383's are going for about $5k new, this should be a bit more but it depends on who built it and what's in it. 4. Yes I know there wasn't a #4 but I'm putting it in anyway. If you'd like to give it away for much much less than I mentioned above, I promise to find it a good home :winkwink: Congrats man! |

560hp at the flywheel? |
560hp is pretty leathel on a bike. I find it hard to believe the enginge would only be worth 5k if it has 560hp (even at the flywheel) but than again I know nothing about harley's. Eitherway congrats!

No matter what it is, congrats on winning it.

Thanks for all the reply guys. Went down and looked at it and this damn thing is a beast!. I will be picking it up tommorw and bringing it home....
