Wire Transfers Europe to US...

I dislike wire transfers. They're quicker sure but they cost more and I always seem to have hassle with them :(

Hoping someone can help who's had the same problem. A wire to a US account from a European account is getting the problem that the ABA number isn't recognised. The ABA number is 100% correct and works in the US but the European bank doesn't seem to like it. Anyone else had this problem and found a way around it?

I'll phone the US bank when they're open but usually the person you get on the phone has no idea eaither unless the question is very simple.

Because of the US banking system its horrible transfering money to the US, your bank over here often has to find a bank over there who banks with youyr bank. It gets very messy. Try western union, its quicker and easier

Not an option with this one unfortunately. :( The US bank in question has no 'Correspondent bank' info listed (but then they rarely do :( ) so I may have to try phoning and pray I get someone on the other end clued up on it. Wouldn;t be quite so bad if the International banks decided to use the same naming convention for all the info. Often they can't even agree on that.

If your bank has a SWIFT code, make sure you use that info to send it.

I don't think I've had a problem with that. I live in Germany and my bank wires money to the US no problem.

Can't find a swift code unfortunately. I'll try calling them later.

Oddly Germany seems to have fewer problems than many other countries in Europe with wores. Must be yet another system in place there. Oh well - it keeps me amused trying to sort it all out :)
