Poker is a game of skill, knowledge of probablity may be helpful, but it alone will certainly not make you a good poker player...

thaifan99 05-30-2005 10:10 PM

Pokers a fabulous game................if you can afford to lose and still enjoy!

Myst 05-30-2005 10:11 PM

how the fuck can probability not help you in poker?
if you know that there is a >50% chance of winning, then over time, u will win >50% of the time

that simple

You, sir, are an idiot. Yes, poker is an, um, interesting game with a heavy dose of luck but depending on luck versus playing the odds will get you very poor over the long haul.

If it's that simple, write a program to determine optimal strategy, then hit some online casinos, and make some nice $$$.

You arent going to have enough time to run it and cant factor in the other players' hands.

mastermikex 05-30-2005 11:15 PM

math, probability and logic may not be all there is to poker, but you can't say they have NOTHING to do with it...they are obviously big factors in the way you play....i mean you're not likely to go in with a 2-7 unsuited, due to the reasons that its unlikely you'll get a straight or a flush, not to mention they're the two crappiest hole cards you can be dealt...if thats not math, probability and logic, i dunno what is...
