Connecting computer to home audio system?

I subscribe to the Rhapsody service and it would be really great to be able to pump the music through my audio system. I know about the Y cables, but the problem is my computer and audio systems are in different rooms about 25 feet apart. I really don't want a 25 ft. cable running down my hallway for people to trip over and break things.

Is there an easy way to link up my audio system to my computer via a wireless connection? Something easy and simple would be great.

Plan B is to setup Rhapsody on my wireless laptop and plug that into my audio system. That would probably work pretty good, just searching for other solutions.

Plan C Move the systems into the same room. Wireless transfer of audio really sucks
on PCs at this point.

There are lots of wireless stuff for that nowadays - check out dlink or soundbridge (which is really cool)

Plan C is out of the question. Why would I move my work computer to the living area? I do have another spare computer I could put in the living area, but I don't need more stuff plugging up my living room.

Several products available for this.

You don't have a PC set up as a media center yet? You don't know what you are missing.

I don't know how "wireless" audio work, so I'd say get a 25 feet cable !

Tell me more. I have a spare computer sitting here, if a media center is as sweet as you say it is, I'm sure I could find room for it.

U thought of having the cable up by the roof instead of on the floor for people to trip on? :winkwink:

I'm reading about all of this stuff now and getting major wood. Technology is so damn cool.

If you have picture in picture on your TV you could be on the web as you watch,
with a tuner card you have a DVR with no tito shit to worry about. all sound goes
though the PC and the 6.1 setup is sweet as you can add any effect you want.
also your pc output can go right into your stereo system without the loss of signal
over wireless. Plus you can grab any music from MTV etc of from the cable system
right to your hard drive without any download worry. And that is just a start google
for some info.

Thanks for the tip. I'm reading everything I can now. All I need to do is put my tower somewhere nearby, the TV can act as the monitor.

You're on crack :)

ATI is welfare equipment. Do it right or don't do it at all. I've used almost every ATI capture device there is on the market and NOT one worked correctly. Even MSI's capture devices are SHIT.

Either go with winnov or haupage or don't bother.
