RSS feeds, how can I use them to get fresh content for my website?

k, I've been reading for the past hour or so and the more I read the more I'm confused.

Lets say I want to turn one of my sites into a news protal, can I do that using RSS feeds? How exactly can I do that - please give a simple example if you can, e.g. you go to www.somesite.com , copy this chunk of code, paste it on your site and you're good to go.

Another question, if I can actually do that wont the SEs see this as duplicate content and 'punish' my site?

One more question: how do the sites that offer their content through RSS feeds benefit? Do they get a link back in order for you to use their content?

Thanks in advance for your friendly, knowledgeable replies.

I thought you did SEO? Or was it domains?

Search on Google for "creating an rss feed" -- There are a few scripts floating around that will create an RSS feed for your page.

It will not be labeled as duplicate content as search engines look at a certain % to label it as dupe content.

I read that some blogs also offer their content/articles in RSS fedds, so basically if you have a short article on your blog, and I have exactly the same one on mine, wont SEs see it as duplicate content?

Are you trying to say that if I get one article from site A, one form site B, and have some original content then I'm safe, because only a small percentage can be seen by the SEs as duplicate?

Good luck. And I don't think the dup content will matter because each site will be different. Like you said, some content from a, some from b, and your own content will be a brand new page.

Also, you can place Adsense in your RSS feeds: https://www.google.com/support/adsen...y?answer=20012

Only requirement is that you need at least 100 RSS subscribers.

here's the short answer http://www.rexmag.com/newsfeed.html

two sites using the feed that make it look real nice are www.larrymag.com and www.webzinex.com

my feed is fucking easy to set up, i don't know why so many people need third party programs to do it. if you do want to pick and choose how many headlines show up use whatever hornyblogger.com is using.. that site is ncie
