athlete - A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

Seems to me like a race car driver has a natural or aquired trait, is pretty agile, can withstand endurance and races in a competitive context.

Sounds about right to me

Kevsh 05-29-2005 06:46 PM

She's also less than 100lbs, which means her car's carrying at least 70+ lbs less than anyone else in the field. That makes a difference ... and just wait, there will be new regulations in place to compensate once (if) she starts beating everyone else

Tom_PM 05-29-2005 06:49 PM

hehe, try driving your car at 225 MPH on the next freeway offramp.. repeat for 500 miles. See if you are sore anywhere.

sherie 05-29-2005 06:52 PM

Ahh I see, no other male racers have EVER caused accidents...not even Paul Tracy, the guy that couldn't find sponsors forever because he was an accident waiting to happen LMFAO/

A really good computer programmer could fit your requirements for the definition of an athlete. Write code good enough and for long enough hours, and you are an "athlete". :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

It wasn't my definition. I pulled it from dictionary.com but to say a race car driver isn't an athlete is just wrong. Put one of your fat asses in a car without AC for 500 miles while wearing a fire suit and lets see how you do!

Recap of the day's races...

Whiny little pussy mother-fucker who wasn't MAN enough to make it at Indy...

ROBBY GORDON
Final position for Indy 500 - COULDN'T EVEN QUALIFY, but cried like a baby to press!
Coca-Cola 600
Only qualified 25th
Only placed 27th
Money earned about $30k

DANICA PATRICK
Final position for Indy 500 - FOURTH
Qualified position - FOURTH
Laps Lead and Records Broken - MANY!!!
Money EARNED! - $780,000.00 for race, estimated $3,800,000.00 in souvenir product sales for the weekend, over 58 major network television spots for a total of 368-minutes of FREE primetime advertising reaching 2.8-BILLION viewers. That network time alone should generate her an estimated $300-million in income over the next 5-years.

She just guaranteed herself more income than most NFL, NBA, or any MLB, player or TEAM will ever make for a single day of work. :)

Robby Gordon was a total moron for making that statement about her weight. As I posted elsewhere, A.J. Foyt wasn't exactly in the 150 - 175 lb weight range when he qualified 2nd for the INdy 500 in 1991.
:P

Danica's got skills, but I DOUBT she has balls...

If you truly think motor sports doesn't require being physically fit, or being a good athelete, you're an idiot.
