why move to canda?
other then free health care, any perks on why one would move to canada from the US?
|
Higher taxes to pay for the free health care is one of the better perks.

You won't have to buy sunscreen.
|
You'll save money on beachwear as well.

A smaller army than the Swiss.

Our admissions form has gotten harder. If you're a republican our customs agents can now shoot you without question.

Contrary to popular belief, Canada does not have "free" health care, we have Universal health care. Why would one want to move here? There are plenty of reasons Canada kicks ass, one would be that we don't have Bush. We do however have a crooked government running things now, but hey which is the worse evil!?!
|
I stand corrected. The best reason to move to Canada: sherie lives there!

I've been to Vancouver. Very clean. The people seemed to be more mellow and helpful compared to Los Angeles where I grew up.

I know if I could have talked the woman into it I would have become a citizen of Vancouver years ago...would just have to winter or summer a few months out of the year to load up on sun & Vit D :) |

Depends where in Canada???
|
Higher taxes versus a universal health coverage is the big one.
Other than that, our summers are gorgeous and our winters aren't too bad (if you live on either coast), the middle of the country is freezing cold. Lots of lakes/rivers, no earthquakes or hurricanes and no bush government. Although like Sherie said, we have a corrupt government right now. Living in Canada and getting paid in USD is a great perk too. WG |

I don't find my taxes are all that much higher than anywhere else. And that health care aspect is a HUGE one from where I sit. As long as I've been a member here I have seen several americans talk about their crushing hospital bills, and I mean several, and I mean crushing. During that same time I saw my mom be admitted to the hospital for a 2 month+ stretch, and on the day she was released she recieved no bill. Zero. Nothing.
In the US that stay in the hospital would have run her probably over $100K. Other than that I'm not about to sit here and extoll the virtues of Canada over anywhere else. As someone said, it depends where in Canada you're considering, because the cost of living is different region-to-region, but the fact is if you want to find out about Canada then come up for a decent visit and find out for yourself. I will say this though... if you're wanting to find out about a particular area of any country, it's always best to ask people who actually live there as opposed to taking the opinions of others, most of whom likely have never even been. |
Please don't tell me you think the Conservative / Bloc Quebecfrogs would be a better choice.
Jesus. |
Clean, friendly, safe, laid back, more liberal, culture, great cities, the news broadcasts aren't filled with doom and gloom
